' B. MOROSCO PAPER WINDER Filed Sept. 10. 1926 61am new Patented Dec. 6, 1927. 8
PATENT OFFICE.
ammo nono'sco, or new ORLEANS, LOUISIANA.
PAPER WINDER.
Application filedSeptemberlO, 1926. Serial 110,134,690.
My invention consists in a new and useful improvement in paper winders and is designed to provide a device for winding paper rolls suitable for use in barbers chairs. The
device embodying my invention, hereinafter fully described, constitutes an improvement over the device described and claimed in United States Patent Number 1,553,873, granted to me on September th, 1925. The
10 particularly novel and useful feature of my improved device is the combination of means for supporting the supply roll of paper and the. means for winding the individual paper rolls,'the latter means being provided with a novel form of spindle and winding means therefor.
In the drawings filed herewith, I have illustrated one specific embodiment of my invention, but it is to be understood that I do not consider my invention limited to said specific embodiment but refer for its scope to the claims appended hereto.
Inthe drawings Fig. 1 is a side elevation of my device;
'Fig. 2 is an end elevation of my device. Fig. 3 is a vertical section of a portion of the-spindle and winding means therefore. My device, as illustrated in the drawings, comprises a frame 1 which may be suspended carrying-the supply roll of paper upon the roller R held by pins 3 in the slots 4 of the i frame 1. Suitably attached at the bottom of I the bearing '9 is the stub shaft 15 provided with the circumferential groove 16 into which projects the pin 17 threaded through the bearing '9. The stub shaft 15 is provided on its inner end with a tongue 18 having on its end a male head 19 which is received into the female socket 14 when the spindle ll is placed in operative position. The stub shaft 15 is also provided upon its end outside of the bearing 9 with a gear 20 with which meshes a gear 21 suitably mounted upon the frame 1 and provided with a crank handle 221 The receptacle 5 is provided upon the lower edge from hooks through suitable holes 2, for
tails of construction of my device, its use will be obvious. When the parts are related as indicated inthe drawings, the supply roll of paper being upon the roller R,the free end of the paper roll is inserted into the groove 12 of the splndle 11, the spindle 11 is rotated by the crank 22 and gears 21 and 20, the
paper being thus drawn from the supply roll on the roller R and wound upon the spindle 11. This process is continued until sufficient paper is woundupon the spindle 11 to fill the receptacle 5.which is of such size as to. receive the desired quantity of paper to provide a roll of paper suitable for a barbers chair. When the roll upon the spindle 11 is completed, the rotationof the spindle 11 is reversed to release the end of the roll from the groove 12, and the spindle 11 is then withdrawn from the receptacle 5 by the ring 13. The paper forming the roll in the receptacle 5 can be severed from the supply roll on the roller R by means of the cutting edge 23, and the roll in the receptacle 5 can then be ejected therefrom by the user inserting two fingers through the holes 24 and pushing the roll outwardly through the opening 6.
Having described my invention, what I claim is: a I I 1. In a paper winder, the combination of a spindle provided with a groove and a female socket in said'groove; and a stub shaft provided with a tongue having a male head, v
the spindle being adapted to springover the male head. on the tongue and receive said head into the socket, when the spindle is slid into operative position. i
2. In a paper winder the combination of a cylindrical. receptacle having end walls; aligned bearings in said walls: a stub shaft journaled in one of said bearings and pro- 2 vided witha tongue having thereon a male head: and a spindle slidable in the other bearing and provided with a groove having a female socket therein, the spindle being adapted to spring over the male head on the tongue and receive said head into the socket.
when the spindle is slid into operative position.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
BRUNO MOROSCO.
