Before describing indetail the illustrative embodiment of the present invention re ferred to above, it may. be advisable briefly to point out the purposes and objects of the present invention as embodied in the devices referredfto above, and the defects of the devices" hithertoiintended to fulfil the same end, which defects are substantially entirely avoided by the'present invention. In
the babycarriages, go-carts, and the like, hitherto intendedand designed to include a toilet appliance, the inclusion ofthe toilet appliance, such as a commode, has necessitated such a fundamental alteration in the construction of such devices when without 1 any toilet appl1ance, as to make such devices tirely, overcome'by'the present invention toilet appliances for the use of theinfant in" Referring to the illustrative embodiment im'pracmentioned, above, the same may comprise a.
carriage body 10, of which the lower portion 11, which may or may not comprise a continuation of and be integral with f the 7 upper portion 12 of the body portion, provides a bottom 13, above; and spaced'from' which is a false bottom, generally indicated by the referencecharacterl. I
The carriage,' generally indicated by the reference characteriC, comprises theusual front wheels '15, the rear wheels 16, the shafts 17 and 18, and theframe 19, the upper por- It is; of; c'ourse,-,to be understood that I where the device is applied to'go-carts, or

similar vehicles, instead of toibaby-carriages, i
the construction will be correspondingly al- I tered, although the present invention issuccessfully applicable to go-carts, and the like,
as well as to baby-carriages. I
'Beneath the false bottom 14 is a paiuuo 21 providing, a forwardly disposed recepe V ta'clej 22 and a rearwardly disposed receptacle 23, The forwardlydisposedreceptacle 22 is providedwith aimovablepreferably a slidable, cover 24 for covering or uncovering an opening 25 the false bottom 15f directly over the receptacle 22 which is intended to contain, for'convenientaccess, various articles which theinfant may require. The cover 24; slides in aggroove or slide'way {26, provided by aframe or other suitable means 27, as shown drawlng.
more clearly in FigureB of'the The rearwardly disposed receptacle 23,

also provided with a movable, preferablyga 7 slidable, cover'28 for'the opening 29in the rear portion of thelfalse boa-011114. Thisgg.
movable cover 28intendedto v expose or I cover, as desired, the opening 29-, through which access may behad to the commode,
generally designated by reference character 30. The cover 28 is provided withafisdbstantially circular opening 28 into which fits,
a cover 528 provided with a bail or handle 28", the opening 28*boingimmediately above the commode 30 when the cover 28 is in closed position. The cover 28 slides in agroove or slideway 31 provided by the rear portion 32 of the frame 27. i i
The rear portion of the carriage body it) is provided with a hinged end cover or closure 33 hinged at 34 to the carriage body 10 and provided with a catch or other suitable locking means35to provide access to the receptacle 23 for removing orreplacing the commode 30.
Means are provided for suitably retaining the commode 30 in position within the receptacle 23 during the movement ofthe babycarriage C. For this purpose, I provide the spring arms36 which yieldingly receive the commode 30 and are attached to a hollow, cylindrical sleeve or bracket 37 through which passes a guide rod 38, the ends of which ride within the arcuate guide grooves "39. The bracket 37 and the guide rod 38 are provided with the two arms all), through the lower perforated ends oi; which the guide rod 38 passes. The upper ends of the arms or brackets 410 are similarly perforated and are carried by asupporting rod ell suitably supported in the bearings 42. A spring 43 is provided, one cndvof which is fixedly carried by the partition 21, and the other end of which bears against a projection 44 forming a part of the sleeve or bracket 37.
The commode 30 is preferably provided with a sealed cover 45 which in turn, is provided with a bail or handle 46 for manipulating the same. The commode isalso provided with a handle 47 for facilitating its manipulation intoand out of the commode rece tacle.
161158 and manipulation of the device described above are substantially as follows: When it is desired to place an article for the use of the infant, or for some other purpose, within the forwardly disposed receptacle 22, or to remove any article therefrom, the slidable cover 24: is manipulated so as to expose the opening 2,5. It will benoted that the slidable coverQal. is positioned above the slidable cover 28, so that the two, covers will clear each other when both openings 25 and 29 are exposed, although the cover A may, if desired, be placed below thecover 28.
\Vhen it is desired to place the commode within the rearwardly disposed receptacle 23, the hinged end closure 33 tis raised, and the commode 30, provided with the sealed cover 45 carrying the bail 46, is placed within the receptacle 23 and snapped into position with in the spring arms 36 which serve to retain the commode in position during any movemerit of the baby-carriage or similar device to which the present invention may be ap- P da "Due to the provision of the sleeve or reaaooa bracket 37, the guide rod 38, theends of which ride in the slides or grooves 39, the arms 40 pivotally carriedby the rod ll and tl'lOH'lSQlVGS pivotally supported on the guide rod 38 about which the sleeve or bracket 37 i has a. pivotal movement, and the spring 43,
QSrearwardly moved to cover the opening 29 orthe cover 28 replaced. i a
The advantages of the present invention, as embodied in the illustrative device de scribed above, are numerous and of great practical importance. Due to the arrangement (If parts described above, a construction a of baby-carriage, go-cart, or the like, ispro vidcd. which requires little fundamental alteration of the construction hitherto employed for the manufacture of such devices, while at he same time rendering possiblethe incorporation in the device of a toiletappliance, such as a commode, in a simple and convenient manner and at the same time providing for the easy and accessible useiand removal of such toilet appliances. At the same time the provision of theend closure permits the ready removal and lreplaceinent of the commode with its sealed cover at any time desired, the whole arrangement being an extremely practical one, easy and economical to manufacture, and convenient in use. p i
It is, of course, to be understood that my invention is not limited to the illustrative embodiment thereof herein shown and do scribed for purposes lVhat I claim is: a
1. In a baby-carriage, go-cart, or the like, a. false bottom having a slidable cover portion. a commode receptacle positioned be neath said false bottom and adapted to he cxposedor cm'ercd by the Slltlttlilt'. cover portion of said false bottom, as tlcsircd ai commode within said recimtaclc, and means for retaining said commode in position within said receptacle. v
