The invention is a gate valve in which the gate has a double wall with openings on each side so that the pressure will be equalized.
The object of the invention is to provide a balanced gate valve.
Another objector' the invention is to provioc a sliding valve with a double wall and openings against each wall.
And a further object of the invention is to provide a double wall gate valve in which the valve will operate in a chamber that has inlet openings at each side and an outlet opening through the center.
With these ends in view the invention embodies a valve having a double walled gate slidably mounted in a chamber, another chamber surrounding the sliding chamber and provided with openings to permit asubstance therein to bear against both of the walls of the gate with equal pressure, and an outlet opening through the end of the sliding chamber in which the valve is mounted.

in the drawings I have shown my valve as it would be constructed wherein numeral 1 indicates the outer chamber, numeral 2 the inner chamber and numeral 3 the gate.
The outer chamber 1 is formed in the outer part of the casing 4 and is provided with an opening 5 into which one end of an inlet pipe 6 may be placed.
The chamber 2 is formed between the upper and lower sections of the chamber 1 by the partitions or walls. 7 and 8, and these walls have openings 9 and 10 through which a substance passes fromthe chamber 1 to.

The stem is also held in a bearing 19, at the end of the chamber, and the gate 3 slidably held in the space between the walls 7 and 8 The sides of the valve 3 are provided with flanges 20 and 21 which cover the openings 9 and 10 when the valve is in the closed position. It will be seen that the valve may readily be moved back and forth in the chamber 2 by the handle18 at the outer end and that the pressure of the substance in the.
chamber l will engage the same number of square inches on each side of the valve.
, It will be understood that changes may be made in the construction without departing from the spirit of the invention. One of said changes. may be in the design of the casing, another may be in the design of the gate, another may be in the means for operating the gate and still another maybe in the arrangement of the chambers in the casing.
The construction will be readily understood from the foregoing description.- To use the device it maybe installed in any pipeline Or other suitable device and it will be seen'that as a pressure appears in'the valve, with the gate in the closed position, the
pressure coming from either the inner or the outer opening will act exactly the same against both of the walls of the gate; and as the gate is opened, the openings at each side will always'be equal and the number of square inches,'ofthe movable gate, that are exposed to the pressure at each side of the center will always be the same. 'VVhen the substance is passing from the chamber 1 to the chamber 2 it will also pass through the gate so that the same pressure will be exerted at each end. This will make it possible to slidethe gate with perfect ease at any position as it will always bebalanced, thereby providing a balanced gate valve.
