My invention relates to display devices which are adapted to illustrate the effect of various shades of roofing material with va rious colors and shades of house trim, and body color It has become possible, due to the wide varieties of colors of stained wooden shin gles and mineral surfaced composition shingles, to obtain a roof of a color which will blend properly with the color and trim of a house or other building, and my invention is directed to the provision of a device whereby 'the'purch aser can try out various colors of roofs withhouse colors, in order to satisfy himself as to the colored roof that he.

It is my object to provide for the dealers in roofing a framework for a miniature house, together with cards printed in colors which will show the front and sides of the house.

In connection with the frame a suitable support is provided, and minlature sized roofs ofv miniature sample shingles are built so as to be set up quickly as a roof for the miniature sized house. i

The front of the device is formed of an upper and alower sheet metal bar. Cards 18 with sloping tops are provided, as shown in Figure 2, and printed in colors to indicate the side of a house. The card of whatever color desired is placed against the sheet metal side plate and engaged by the flanges 3 and-4 thereof. The same is done.

' The front cards 19,.which are also color printed, are set into engagement with the flanges 13 and 16 of the front top and botsize but of'real roofingmaterials. The roof is shaped to it with suitable eaves lying over the frame, and has a batten 23 to engage above the top cross bar, and if desired, a second batten 24-to engage the front card sup orting arm.

By removing the braces, the whole device can be laid flat and packed up in a suitable carton for shipment, which carton, if desired, may also contain a set of cards. There will naturally be as many sets as desired of the cards, one front card and two side cards to a set, printed with harmonious colors.

Foliage cards may also be provided to increase the realism of the miniature house; no foliage cards are shown as they may be of any desired shape and color. 5 There will also be a series of roofs, finished in different colors or mixed colors, with toy sized shingles of real roofing material, such as it is desired to sell to the customer.

Thus by removing and setting up cards showing various colors, and trying the cards out with roofs of different colors, the purchaser can, in miniature, see a house in which the actual colors he might have, are set in exactly the right relation for him to judge what he likes as a color for his roof, to \blend with the color which he has his house or may wish to select for his house.

It will naturally be possible to accomplish my objects without following the type of structure forming the card and roof supporting frame, of which the essentials are a shape to suit the cards, and means for detachably engaging the cards-in erected position and retalning a miniature sized roof in roper relation to the simulation of a house ormed by the cards.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A device for displaying roofing material comprising a frame support, elements simulatingdhe appearance of portions of a building with the frame support having means for engaging said elements, and a roof member, adapted to be set on the frame support in the same relative relation to said elements. as would appear in an actual house, said frame support consisting of a series of articulated sections adapted to fold up for shipment in a fiat container.

2. A device for displaying roofing material comprising a frame support, elements simulating the appearance of portions of a building with the frame support having means for engaging said elements, and a roof member, adapted to be set on the frame support in the same relative relation to said elements as would appear in an actual house. said frame support consisting of a series of articulated sections adapted to fold up for shipment in a fiat container, and pivoted arms for bracing said sections in set up position.
