AIR-AGITATING MEANS FOR ICE MACHINES.
Application filed March 10, 1926. Serial No. 93,702.
@ur invention relates to iinproven'ients in air agitating system tor ice plants tor use with can grids and it is an object ot the invention to provide means tor introducing` air into the ice cans hich can be positioned so as not to interfere with the removal ot the.
longitudinally ot thevgrid adjacent the top of the cans, the saine being provided vwith nipples 13 to which pipes (not shown) :tor supplying air to the cans adjacent their bottom are connected by flexible connections 14 which are supported by brackets 15 ot an approved type. An air supply pipe 16 is disposed adjacent the end oiu the grid and connected to air header 12 by a flexible connection 17. A valve 18 is provided ior controlling the flow o l' the air from said supply pipe to said air header.
Said air header 12 is .mounted on arms 19 which are pivoted or hinged on pins 20in appropriate supports, whereby said air header may be swung from a position above the tops ot the cans to a position at one side or the grid, thereby permitting the ice to be removed 'from the cans for thefpurpose of harvesting.' It will be understood, of course, when the air header 12 is swung` over outside ot the grid as indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 2, the flexible connections 14: are disconnected 'f'rom the tubes in bracket 15, so that the brackets 15 may be readily removed before the ice is dumped from the cans. The arms 19 are preferably formed with intermediate angles to form a flat rest section y to acord a lirm rest on the edge of the grid when swung to the outside position.
lt will be obvious that yvarious modifications in the details ot' construction may be made without departing from the scope or' our invention, which is deined in the appended claims.
Having thus fully described our said invention, what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
l. rlhe combination in an ice plant ot ice cans, a trame i'or containing the cans, arms pivotally mounted at or near the side ot the trame to swing into and out of position over said cans, and an air supply header supported by said arms, substantially as set orth.
A can grid for ice making plants comp rising a frame, ice cans in said trame, an air supply adjacent the trame, an air header having communication with the air supply and pivotally supported on said frame, normally overlying the cans but adapted to swing to a position outside the cans, substantially as set forth.
The combination in an ice plant, of ice cans, a frame for supporting the cans, arms pivoted on the i'rame in spaced relation and swingable into and out ot position over the cans, an air supply header carried by said arms and having connections tor supplying air to the cans, a source of air supply adjacent one end of the pivoted air supply header, and a connection between the source of air supply and said header, substantially as set forth. 4l. The combination in an ice plant, of ice cans, a trame for supporting the cans, arms pivoted on the traine in spaced relation and swingable into and out of position over the cans, an air supply header supported by said arms and having connections tor supplying air to the cans, a source ot air supply adjacent one end oitk the pivoted air supply header, a connection between the source of air supply and said header, and a valve inv said connection, substantially as set forth.
5. Ice vmaking apparatus comprising a frame for supporting ice cans, a header for supplying air to said cans, said header being pvotahy mounted and supported by Said header', a connection between said tube and frame, substantially as set forth. said air header, and a pvotally mounted 6. loe making apparatus comprising a bracket Supporting said header, substantially frame for supporting ice cans, an air header as set forth.
u for Supplying air to said cans, and pvotally In Witness whereof, We have hereunto set 15 mounted brackets supporting said air header, our hands at Vaynesboro, Pennsylvania', this substantially as set forth. 4th day of March, A.. D. nineteen hundred 7. fee making apparatus comprising a and twenty-51X. frame. an ice can supported n said frame, a v CHARLES L. VVHITAKER. l tube for supplying air to said can, an air NORMAN VE.
