IMPROVEMENT IN SASH-FASTENERS.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES B. GAEDINEE, of Westerly, county of Washington and State of Rhode Island` have invented certain Improvements in Window Fasteners.
The following description, taken in connee-,
tion with the accompanying plate ot' drawings hereinafter referred to, forms a full and exact specication, wherein are set forth the nature and principles of the invention, by which the same maybe Vdistinguished from others ot' a similar class, together with such parts thereof as are claimed as new and are desired to be secured by Letters Patent of the United States.
My invention relates to that class of fasteners or latches which are made use of for holdlever B. The latch or bolt U is provided with projecting sides D, which are pivoted by means of a pin to said lever. Notches d are cut in the sides D for the purpose of allowing space for the pin, by means ot' which theV said lever 'is pivoted to the projections a, and for the purpose of causing said bolt to assume an upf 'right positionv when withdrawn within said l'nortise-plate. S designates a spring, the oflice of which is to force the long arm of the lever downward, and thereby canse said bolt to catch into a slot prepared for its reception in the jarnb of the window.
Having thus described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States- The combination of the mortise-plate A,
provided with projections a, the lever B pivoted j to the projections a, the latchbolt C, provided with projecting sides D, in which notches are out for the purpose described, and the spring S, all opera-ting together, as described.
