BALANCING BLOCK.
Application filed April 17, 1922. Serial No. 554,002.
- number of the blocks may be hung, one upon another, as will be set forth hereinafter.
In the accompanying three sheets of drawings, I have fully illustrated my invention.
Figure 1 is a perspective elevation of a single block, showing the figure in an up right position.
Figure 2 is an elevation showmgtwo blocks, one mounted on the head of the other.
Figure 3 is an elevation showing three blocks, one figure being upright, and the other two being inverted and hanging by their hands upon the hands of the first figure.
Figure 4: is an elevation showing three blocks, one being upright, and the other two hanging by their feet from the hands of the first one.
Referring to the figures of the drawing, A, B, and C are three blocks exactly alike, of which 1 is the head'portion, 2, the hands, and 3, the feet. The head 1 is mounted on a short stout neck 4, and has a fiat top 5, upon which it may stand firmly, when inverted.
The hands 2, are at the ends of short, fat arms 6 and have their outer peripheries? at about right angles to a line from the approximate center of the figure, as 8, so that the block may stand upon those peripheries.
The feet 3 are at the ends of short, fat legs 9, are spread as shown, and are provided with the fiat sole portions 10, at about right angles to theline 8, so that the block may "rest firmly upon either of said sole portions. The feet are also provided with fiat heel pore tions 11, in line with each other so that the blocks may rest thereon, and be, then, in an upright position.
' The hands 2, of the block are turned slightly upward,'as at 12 so that those parts of one blockmay hook over those of another and the block hang thereon, as seen more particularly in Figure 3. The heels of the block project somewhat toward each other,
forming hooks, as at13, by means of which one block may be hung upon another, as seen more particularly in Figure 4. The spread of the legs of the block is such as to receive the head between them, so that one block. may rest on top of another with the head of the lower between the heels of the upper one,
and steadied thereby, as seen more particu l'arly in Figure 2. v
The dimensions of the block are such that it may be approximately inscribed in a circle. Having thus described my invention, and an embodiment of it, 'in the full, clear and exact terms required by law, and knowing that itcomprises novel, useful and valuable improvements in the art to which it pertains, I here state that I do not wish to be limited to the precise construction and arrangementters Patent of the United States, is the following, to Wlti- Atoy block having the form of a fat, hu
'man figure, and having flat peripheral portions, a head, hands and feet, projecting at right angles to lines drawn to the approximate center of gravity of the figure.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereto set my hand this 12 day of April,
HEDDA J. SARGENT.
