Arranged within the lower end of the bore ot the tube 53 is the tool holder 63 held in place by means` of the cap 64 secured to the lower flange 55. The tube is provided at its lower end with a second bore 65, of larger diameter than the inain bore and concentric` therewith, the bores being separated by the sleeve portion G6. The upper end of the tool holder is reduced to rit within the inner bore of the tube, and a coil spring 67 is arranged within the outer bore and bears against the shoulder formed by the reduced portion of the tool holder. certain extent by radiation, but not dangerously. Thishcatlng will raise the volatility of the fuel especially advantageous in cold weather. The amount of air drawn through the space between the cylinder and fuel tank may be regulated or cut off altogether by means of the shutter 2l.
rlhe arrangement of the fuel tank, fan, magneto, etc. is such as to produce mammum compactness and symmetry, and adds to the efficiency of the machine. The machine is complete in itself and may be 'used anywhere, and the entire construction 1s of the utmost simplicity.
lllhile l have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood that various changes in the size, shape, and arrangen'icnt of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of my invention or the scope of the subioined claims.
Having described my invention. what l claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:
l. A power hammer comprising a piston and cylinder for operating said hammer, and a fuel tank arranged concentrically about said cylinder and spaced therefrom to provide an air space about the cylinder. n
2. A portable power hammer comprising a piston. and cylinder, a fuel tank arranged concentrically aboutsai-d cylinder and spaced therefrom, and a fan operated by said piston and adapted to cause a circulation of air between said cylinder and said fuel tank.
3. A portable power hammer comprising a piston and cylinder, a fuel tank arranged concentrically about said cylinder and spaced therefrom, a crank shaft connected to said piston, a fan on said crank shaft and adapted to cause a circulation of air in the space between said cylinder and said fuel tank, and means for regulating the amount of air circulation.

5. A portable power hammer comprising a piston, cylinder and crank case, a fuel tank concentrically arranged about said cylinder` and spaced therefrom, a crank shaft, a fan arranged on one end of said crank shaft and adapted to cause a circulation of air in the space between the cylinder and tank, a magm neto mounted on the other end of said crank shaft and serving to preserve the balance of the tool, and a hammer element actuated by said crank shaft.

A portable power hammer comprising a piston, cylinder and crank case, a fuel tank concentrically arranged about said cylinder and .spaced therefrom, a crank shaft jour naled in the walls of the crank case, a fan arranged upon one end of the crank shaft and adapted to circulate air in the space between the cylinder and fuel tank, a magneto mounted on the other end of the crank shaft, an expansion chamber arranged adjacent the crank case and adapted to heat the walls thereof, .a push rod operatively connected to the crank shaft, and a hammer ele-- ment resiliently connected to the push rod.

A portable power hammer comprising a piston, cylinder and crank case, a fuel tank concentrically arranged about said cylinder and spaced therefrom, a pair of stub shafts `iournalled in the walls of the crank case, eccentrics mounted on the inner ends of the shafts, a connecting rod operatively connecting said piston and eccentrics. a fan arrange-d on the end of one of the stubs and adapted to circulate air in the space between the cylinder and fuel tank. a magneto mounted on the en d of the other stub shaft, an expansion chamber arranged adjacent the crank case and adapted to heat the walls thereof, a tubular section secured to the crank case, a hammer element therein having an elongated recess in one end, straps surl rounding the eccentrics, a push rodpivotally secured to the straps and having an enlarged end arranged in the recess in the hammer, a .spring in said recess and bearing against the enlarged end of the push rod. a tool holder arranged in the lower-end of the tubular section, and a spring normally holding said tool holder out of engage meut with the hammer. i Y

A portable power hammer comprising a crank case section having flanges at cach end, a cylinder mounted upon the upper flange, a piston in said cylinder, a fuel tank mount ed on said upper flange and concentrieally arranged about said cylinder in space-d relation therewith, a. crank shaft journalled in the walls of the crank case, a fan casing formed on said crank case and in communi cation with the space between said cylinder and fuel tank, a fan arranged on one` end of the crank shaft and within the fan casing. said fan being adapted to circulate air in the space between the cylinder and the fuel tank, a magneto arranged on the other end of the crank shaft and serving to preserve the half ance of the tool and means operatively connecting the piston and crank shaft.
