Description
UNITED STATES PATENT FFIC'E.
DAVID J. HOWENSTINE, OF CANAL FULTON, OI-IIO, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HAEF HIS RIGHT TO GEORGE N. ELLIOTT, OF SAME PLAGE.
vuviPRovi-:IvnzN-r IN sAUsAGE-MACHINES.
Specitication forming part of Letters Patent No. 164,741, dated J une 22, 1875; application filed February 3, 1375.
To all whom it may conero:
Be it known that I, DAVID J. HowENs'rrNE, of Canal Fulton, in the county of Stark, in the State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved Machine to F111 Sausages; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference b ein g had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon..
The nature of my invention consists of a circular box, A, provided with a cylinder, B, as represented by Figure 1, giving its position when the end of box A is removed. Fig. 2 gives a view of cylinder B detached from box A, and reversed, provided with ribs r r T r, two of which have AScrapers c c attached by hooks or joints, allowing them to expand and contract. Scrapers o o o o are formed in a regular curve, and one required to each rib, so if all were closed at onetime they would form a perfect cylinder around cylinder B, which is provided with rods s s passing through its center, for the purpose of expanding each scraper in turn as the one on the opposite side is contracted by the eccentric curve formed by the cylinder B, with its Scrapers o c o c, being smaller than the inside diameter of box A, and having its axis placed enough below the center ofeach end of box A to have the Fig. 4 represents a movable head or end de` tached from Fig. l, provided with cell D, tube E, bearings F, and proper fastenings to secure' it to box A.
Fig. 3 represents the machine ready for use, with a hopper, H, and crank K attached; also feet o o o o, by which the machine may be fastened to a bench.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A sausage-filling machine, consisting of the external hollow cylinder, A, and the eccentrically-pivoted internal cylinder, B, provided with the ribs r r r1', sera-pers o o c o, and rods s s, arranged a-nd operated as set forth.
DAVID J. HOWENSTINE.
