This linvention relates to water valves or faucets, and while, features of the invention may be used in the construction of valves for any purpose whatever, the invention is intended to e especially useful when 'used inthe construction of faucets used 'in households or hotels. v Such faucets have been rovided heretofore 'witha single lever t at controls the vand also enables through the faucet.
The general object 'of this invention 1s to produce a :faucet` having these capabilities and which is at the same-time of very simple construction and of few parts; also to provide such a faucet with a valve of simple construction, having large wearing surfaces and not likely to get out of order.
Further objects of the invention will appear hereinafter.
The invention consists in the novel parts and combination of hereinafter, duce an efiicient combination hot and cold water faucet.
A preferred embodiment of the invention is described in the following'specilication, while-the broad scope of the invention is pointed out in the appended claims.

Suitable means is provided for pressing the valve 18 onto its seat, and for this purpose I may employ a short coil spring 23, the inner end vof which thrusts against the arms 20, which of course, form anopen frame or spider. The outer end ,of the spring lpresses against the inner face of the cap 22. This cap 22 may be secured in position by threads in the outer end of 'the valve chamber. The port 16 is the sanfte distancefrom the central axis of the vjalve 18 as the ports 14 and 15 to insure their registering properly with the port ofthe valve; that is to say, these ports are in the same plane of rotation with respect'to the valves am's.

` If the handle 25 is moved down into a substantiall vertical position, the port 24 can be ma e to register more or less with -f the port 16. When in exact alignment with this port, an equal quantity of h ot and cold water will flow through the valve. Bymoving the handle 25 into a position slightly vtoward the right, a reduced quantity of hot -the outer side of the valve is open to the valve chamber.

In' a combination hotand cold water faucet, the combination of a valve casing having a valve-chamber with 4a substantiallyy conical seat, and having a hot water chamber at one side and a cold vwater chamber at the vother side, said seatfhaving a mixing portl communicating with both said chambers and having a transverse web se arating the hot and cold Water chambers rom each other, said seat further having acold 'water port leading from the cold water chamber and a hot water port leading from the hot water chamber, all of said ports being located substantially in the same plane of. rotation with respect to the valves axis, and atthe same' distance from the axis of the conical seat, and a substantially c-onical valvemounted on said seat havin 'a single port yto register with any one ofg the said ports, said casing having an outlet leading from the valvechamber to lead ofi' the water passing through the valve.
