Application filed March 17, 1926. Serial No. 95,352.
This invention relates to anew and im proved head rest for use upon chairs of various characters, automobile seats, and other articles of furniture where such de-' vices are found desirable. V My principal object is to generally improve upon inventions of this class by providing one of exceeding simplicity and durability which is such in construction'as to reduce the cost of manufacture to a mini mum, to make for'ease in construction, and
to provide an altogether practical and con-'- venient article such as will efiectively serve the purpose for which it is designed.
Other objects, features of construction, 7 and advantages, will become apparent from the following description and drawings.
In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this application and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same:
Figure 1 is a rear elevation of a headrest constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 is a central vertical section through the same showing more plainly.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the reference character 1 designates an annular pneumatic cushion adapted to be filled with air through a suitable air valve 2. Formed integral with this annular cushion and preferably in the same piece of material is a the construction circular center 3 forming a flexible web the chair, seat back, or other device with V against which the head of the user is adapted to be placed. The device also includes a hanger strap'l of suitable form which is permanently attached to the rear side of the cushion and center to properly suspend the device from an appropriate support. This hanger strap is formed with button holes 5 whereby it may be buttoned upon which the invention is associated.
From the foregoing it is obvious that means of the hanger 4c, the device is atvtached to the back of the chair, seat, or V other article of furniture with which iti's" to be associated. The annular cushion 1 rests against the chair back and the lower portion thereof forms somewhat of a rest for the neck of the user, while the central circular portion 3 constitutes; a rest for-the.
back of theVhead." This is quite flexible and makes an exceedingly comfortable rest for the headf The entire: device may be made of rubber if desired.
It is believed that the useand construction of the device will be clear to persons familiar with articles of this class and a more lengthy description isthereforev deemp ed unnecessary. V
Ohangesin shape and size coming within V the field of invention claimed maybe rVesortedto if desired. 7
' Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to ters Patent 1s V As a new articleof manufacture, a head secure by Let rest. of -the class described comprising a hol-.
low annular cushion adapted to be inflated With air, said cushion being provided with a filler valve locatedion the exteriorlof the outer periphery of the cushion, a circular diaphragm formed integral with the inner peripheral portion of the cushion, said diaphragm being of double thickness, and a relatively narrow hangerstrap attached at the point of connectionof the diaphragm 8O and cushion, said strap being provided with a single row of longitudinally spaced suspending apertures, and said strap being located to cooperate in shielding said valve.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
