My invention is an automatic sewer flusher of the type for automatically flushing sanitary sewers by discharging periodically a quantity of flushing water into the sewer. My invention may be considered as an improvement on the automatic sewer flue er of Garrie H. Burns #1,256,656, issued February 19, 1918, and is illustrated em bodied with my copending applications for an automatic sewer flusher, Seria-l Nos. 200,034 and 200,036 filed June 20, 1927.
In automatic sewer flushers difliculty has been found to maintainthc propervadjustment of the balancing pan which ,is filled with water and when filled lifts the valve bell. It is necessary that initially the pan be adjusted by an adjustable screw threaded arrangement to receive I the proper amount of water in order to become loaded with the proper weight before droppingand actuating the valve come rusted the; adjustment becomes displaced, therefore droppingthe balancing pan either so that it allows the I overflow water to run away or else does not sufficiently raise or actuate the valve bell.
An object of my invention is the construction of a screw threaded connector device pivotally mounted on a lever or walking beam of a flusher so that when the ad justment 's once made it will not become altered.
My invention will be more readily understood from the following description and drawings, in which: v

In the drawings the manhole structure is designated generally by the numeral 1 in which usually vertical walls 2 are formed above a well 3, the well having walls 4 on a suitable base 5, there being a sewer pipe 6 discharging into the well and another sewer pipe 7 discharging out of the well. In the usual construction an upper arm 14 extends laterally from the tubular flushing column and has the lever or walking beam 15 pivoted at the other end of same. A valve rod 16 depends from this lever,.being the outer end of a guide arm 17,

This construction, of the trunnion 22 and the cylindrical pin 23 allows a universal joint type of action. v a
It will be seen by this construction that the pan operating rod 11 and the swivel rod 2 1 are maintained in substantial alignment by the screw-threaded connection, but on account of the rod 2a being threaded on the pin 23, this has .a swiveling action in regard to the walking beam 15 and on the action of this beam. When it is desired to adjust ating rod, the pan can be elevated so that the pin 22 is disengaged from the notches 21 and this revolved in one direction or the other to thread it up or down on the swivel i manhole through the inlet pipe 30, having used for other. types a control valve 31, which will be set to allow the desired flow. When the bell valve is seated, outlet from the manhole is prevented and the same is filled with water until it overflows the top of the flushing column, flowing down into the dumping pan 12. WVhen this pan receives a sufficient weight of water it tilts downwardly discharging the water into the well, this action pulling downwardly on the pan rod 11, which motion is transmitted through the swivel rod 24 and the trunnion to one end of the lever 15; thus lifting the valve rod 16 and the valve bell 18, allowing the water in the manhole to be discharged into the well, thus flushing the sewer, or directly into the sewer where the manhole is connected directly on the sewer structure.
While I have illustrated my connecting device from the pan rod to the lever as being used with a particular type of automatic sewer fiusher, it is to be understood that a similar or other connection may be of fiushers- Various changes may be made in the principles of my invention without departing from the spirit thereof, as set forth in the description, drawings and claims.
I claim:
1. In an automatic sewer flusher having a flushing column, a pan, a pan rod extending through the column connected to said pan, a lever operatively connected to a valve bell, and an adjustable swiveling connection between the pan rod and the lever.
2. In an automatic sewer fiusher having a flushing column, a pan rod connected to a pan extending therethrough, a'lever operatively connected to a valve bell, a' swlvel rod, means 'journaling said rod on the lever, and a connection between the swivel rod 1 and the .pan rod.
3. In an automatic sewer fiusher having a flushing column with a pan rod connected to a pan extending therethrough, a lever operatively connected to a valve bell, a rocking trunnlon mounted on the lever, a swivel rod extending through said trunnion and connected to the pan rod. and means to support the swivel rod on the trunnion,
4. In an automatic sewer flusher having a flushing column with pan rod connected to a pan extending therethrough, a lever operatively connected'to a valve bell, a trun-V nion mounted on the lover, a swivel rod extending loosely through the trunnion and being connected to the pan rod, the trunnion having a curved upper surface, and a threaded pin having a lower bearing surface on the curved surface of the trunnion, said threaded pin being connected to the swivel rod.
5. In an automatic sewer flusher having a flushing column with a pan rod connected to a pan extending therethrough, a lever operatively connected to the flushing column and operating a valve bell, the a vertical opening theretlirough at one end and a pair of transverse notches, a trunnion having its opposite ends journaled in said notches, said trunnion having anropening therethrough from top to bottom, a swivel rod extending through said opening and having a connection with the pan rod, and a threaded oscillating pin mounted .on the trunnion, the axis of said angles to the axis of the trunnion, and said pin engaging the said swivel rod.
