TELEBIOOPING RADIO LOOP OB ANTENNA.
Application nled February My invention relates to radio antennae or tuning devices for either the reception or transmission of radio signals, and my object is to provide a simple apparatus that can be adjustable and tunable to various wave lengths or radio frequencies by having the exact length or area of either inductive or transmissive surface.
I attain this object by the device shown in the accompanying drawings in which- Fig. 1, represents a perspective view of my Vtelesco ing radio loop or antennae.
Fig. 2, s ows the electric'circuit. y
Fig. 3, shows the telescoping element and electric contact brushes.
Similar numerals refer to similar parts throughout the drawings.
This telescoping radio loop or antennae consists of a suitable frame (1), in which are suitably positioned insulated U or similar shaped members (2)' which form one half, or a section, of a complete loop. The upright or extending segments of these U or similar shaped members (2) are hollow andl have at their ends suitable brushes (3). This section may also consist of a single straight member.
A secondary frame (4) in which are suitably positioned and insulated corresponding U or similar shaped members (5) to suit-l ably telescope the segments'of the U or similar shaped members (2). This section may also consist of a single straight member to correspond to section above in such a manner so as to involve the telescoping principle.
The brushes (3) make an electric contact on each sliding or telescoping member (5).
The U or similar shaped members 2 and 5 are to telescope into each other so as to make a continuous multiple coil or loop and not a series of closed loops. However a single as well as a connected series of closed loops also the single as well as a numberrof straight members mentioned above if using the telescoping principle, are to be considered included in this application.
This apparatus may be made in various styles and shapes. Scales and gauges may be applied and a mechanism may be employed to o erate the telescoping movement as may be esired.
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent are:
1. A radio tuning device, comprising a plurality of-co-acting` members, each provided with an insulated portion 'formlng a s, 192s. serial no. 86,044.
tions of such members being so formed that when the members are brought into contact with each other they willv telescope each other, whereby the length of the loop thus foimei ma betvari'ed :is desired.
ra io umn evice com risin a plurality of co-actig membe 4p g vided with an insulated portion forming a section of a loop, the. extending se ental portions of one of such members being holow and the corresponding extendingsegmental ortions of the co-acting member being so id, so that when the co-actin members are brought into contact wit each other, they will telescope each other, whereby the length of the loop thus formed may be varied as desired. v ,A
