The present invention relates to a scraper frame adapted to fit various size rubber refiners and has for its prime object to'pro-.
vention lies in the provision of a scraper frame of this nature having side knives which are adjustable in respect to each other and the frame and which are capable of rapid installation on'the frame.
Another important object of the invention resides in the provisionof a structure of this nature with means whereby the desired pressure may be put upon the scraper blade and the side knives for insuring efficient operation. 1
A still further object of the invention resides in the provision of a device of this nature with a comparatively simple structure that may be made strong and durable and will prove thoroughly reliable in use, easy to manipulate, readily adjusted and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
With the above, and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the descrlption proceeds, the invention resides 1n certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

Referring to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that the numeral 5 denotes a refiner roll disposed between frame sides 6. A bar 7 has its ends fixed to the respective frame sides 6 as at 8 to span the distance therebetween. The body of'my improved device is formed from elongated sections 9 and 10 having extensions 11 and 12 respectively for forming doors to receive therebetween an elongated scraper blade 13 to which the jaws are clamped by means of bolts 14.
Heads 15 extend laterally from the ends of the section 9 and have threaded bores 16 extending therethrough to receive threaded shanks 17 having lock nuts 18 thereon.
These shanks 17 terminate in conical heads 19 adapted to engage in the mill frame sides 6 as is clearly illustrated in Figures 1 and 2 so as to rockably mount the device adjacent the refiner roll 5. Lateral extensions 20 are formed at the ends of the section 10 and have fixed thereto by bolts 21 arms 23 which have pressure screws 24 threaded through their extremities to engagethe bar 7. The bottoms of the extensions 20 are provided with mortices 25 the forward walls of which are beveled as is indicated at 26. Screws 27 are threaded through the opposite walls. The numerals 28 denote the side cutting knives which are mounted in brackets 29 in any suitable manner such as by set screws or the like. The upper ends of the brackets 29 are formed into heads 30 having tenons 31 conforming in shape to the mortices 25 to slide therein, and being apparent that the set screws 27 may be tightened for holding these heads in different adjusted positions. Thus the difference between the two side knives may be adjusted to accommodate the breadth of the refiner roller. Proper tension is placed on the scraper blades 13 and the side cutting knives 28 by means of the pressure screws or bo1ts24.
From the above detailed description it will be seen that I have devised a scraper frame which may be rapidly installed and which may be removed even more quickly. The side knives function to cut thelumps from the edge of the sheet on the refiner roll at the same time the rubber comes off said roll. These side knives have suflicient adjustment as will be apparent. Furthermore, these side knives may be removed with their brackets in a few minutes. It is preferable that the side knives be made out of flat spring steel but the scra er blade should be constructed of high gra e alloy steel.
It is thought that the construction, operation, and advantages of this invention will now be quite apparent to those skilled" in this art without a more detailed description thereof. The present embodiment of the invention has been disclosed in detail merely by way of example since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description. It will be apparent that changes in the details of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is 1. A device of the class described comprising a body formed in two sections of elongated construction, adjustable means at the end of one section to rockabl mount the body between the sides of a mill frame, an arm extending from the other section, a pressure screw mounted in the arm, a bar with which the pressure screw is engageable, jaw extensions on the sections, and means for clam ing the sections together to hold a scraper e ement between the jaw extensions.

A device of the class described comprising a body formed in two elongated sections, adjustable means at the ends of one section to rockably mount the body between the sides of a mill frame, an arm extending from the other section, a pressure screw mounted in the arm, a bar with which the pressure screw is engageable, jaw extensions on the sections, means for clamping the sections to ether to hold a scraper element between tlie jaw extensions, brackets for side knives, and means for mounting said brackets on said other sections so that they may be adlusted longitudinally thereof.

A device of the class described comprising a body formed of two sections of elongated construction, one of said sections being rovided at its ends with lateral extensions aving longitudinally extending bores, shanks threadedly mounted in the bores and having at their outer ends conical heads to engage in the sides of a mill frame, said other sections being provided at its ends with lateral extenslons, arms fixed to said lateral extensions to extend laterally of the body, ressure screws threaded through the extremities of said arms, a bar with which said pressure screws are engageable, said extensions of the other sections being provided with lon itudinally extending mor tices, one wall 0 each mortice being beveled, a pair of brackets for sup orting side knives, said brackets having hea s formed with tenons to slide in the mortices, set screws associated with the other side walls of the mortices, to hold said tenons therein, said sections being provided with jaw extensions to receive a scraper blade therebetween, and means for clampin the sections together to hold the scraper blade between the jaw extensions.
