In the illustration given, A represents a sheet metal dash of an automobile; B, an instrument-plate removably mounted thereon, which carries aswitch device B and an ammeter B and C, the improved dash lamp mounted on the instrument-plate.
The dash A and instrument-plate B are of well-known construction. The dash is provided centrally with a large opening, or

The dash lamp C comprises a plate-clamping bracket C and an electric connector mounted thereon. I
The bracket C" comprises a cup-shaped base 4 which bears against the front surface of the upper portion of the instrumentplate B, and a clamping arm 4 which preferably is formed integrally with the upper portion of the base member 4. The bracket preferably is formed from sheet metal having one portion cupped to form the base 4 and having a web 4 which is adapted to extend over the upper flange of the instrument-plate B. This socket may have the usual bayonetv slots for connection with the'lamp bulb, or threaded connection may be employed. if desired. '4
Upon the front end. of the sleeve 7 is mounted the usual hood-reflector, 11. In the, illu'stration given. a'spring 12 is interposed between the movable plug 8 and the base of the lamp. The plug may be shifted longitudinally in the sleeve 7 to make and break the contact by means of a handle, or pin, 13, which works in a suitable cam slot 13 with which the sleeve 7 is provided.
The sleeve 7 preferably is provided near its inner end with a flange, or head, 7 and p the inner extremity of the sleeve extends through a perforation in the base 4 and is spun outwardly to provide a retaining flange 7. Thus, the sleeve 7 is securely fastened to the hollow base portion 4 of the bracket.
The central contact 9 of the plug 8 preferably is a spring projected contact mounted in a bushing 9 whose rear end is fitted with a plug 9 having a bore for receiving the wire of the conductor 6 The Wire is es cured in the bore by means of a screw 14.
