The invention relates to draft rigging for railway cars and more particularly to an improved form of coupler and yoke connection` y The principal object of my invention, generally considered,'is to provide a-connection between the yoke and coupler which will rpermit of relative radial movements between the same and which will at the same ytime afford an adequate .bearing area whereby thev strains imparted to the coupler by draft will. be transmitted to the` yoke in a direct line with vvthe armsthereof. It will be observed that the biturcated portions oi' the yoke arms have a combined area equal to the area of the yoke arms at other points. Hence, the total cross: secA tional area or' the yoke is not ailected by theslots.

In a draft rigging, the comliination with a slotted yoke, of a coupler, lugs :lormed thereon and adapted to extend through the said yoke slots, heads on said lugs,` said heads being equal in Width to the said yoke slots, the forward ends of the yoke being thickened Vto extend substantially 'the tullheight oil the cooperating lugs, said thickened portionsgbeing` discontinued rearwardly et the forward ends ot the slots 'to permit the separation of, said yoke and coup- `ler by a plurality of rotations Without spreading ol said yoke arms.
In a dra'tt rigging, the combination with a coupler, oit a slotted yoke, means 'for pivotally connecting; the same, said means comprising' integral lugs toi-med on said couple' and adapted to engage within said yoke slots, said projections being adapted to pass through said slots only when the longitudinal axes of' said yoke and coupler are arranged at au angle to each other and when one oit said members is rotated about its said axis, the arms oil the yoke being decreased in thickness adjacent the rear ends of the slots to facilitate separation of' the yoke and coupler.
