Ihis invention relates to new and useful improvements in game apparatus.
The primaryobiect of the invention is to provide a spinning game by means'of which independent and impartial I competitive scores may be obtainedby a limited number of players, and wherein each spin ofthe apparatus will produce a change in each players score. r
Other objects and advantages of the in-.
vention will beapparent during the course of the following description. In the accompanying drawingsforming a ,part of the specification and in which like numerals are employed to designate like :parts throughout the same,
Figure 1 is a top plan View of the game apparatus embodying this invention and shownwith all of the parts assembled in readiness for use, c 7
Figure 2 is a side elevational view, partly in section, of the structureshown in Fig. 1, Figure 3 is a fragmentary plan view of a portion of the rim or'inarginal part ofthe base of the game apparatus,
Figure .4 is a fragmentary plan View in tended to illustrate the central portion of the base part shown in Fig. 3,
. Figure 5 is a fragmentary edge elevational view of a portiono'f' the apparatus, and
Figure 6 is a similar view to Fig.5, but taken at a different point around the periphery of the apparatus.
In the drawings, wherein, for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of this invention, the numeral 5 desig-' nates the base portion of the apparatus which is shown in Fig. 2 as having, a plurality of feet 6 carried by the under side of the same, and by means of which the base may be held slightly elevated from a supporting surface, such as the table upon which the apparatus is to be placed while being used. It is intended that this base 5 be made of any suitable material, such as wood, metal, composition board, cardboard, etc. and it may be manufactured in different sizes as desired. Figs. 1 to 3 inclusive and 5 and 6 show the peripheral edge of the base 5 as having formed therein a plurality of saw teeth or notches 7. The base 5 is formed adjacent its periphery with a circular ring of radially elongated spaces 8, see Fig. 3, which are provided with two numbers each, the different numbers being arranged in two circles. At any desired interval, depending entirely upon the wishes of the manufachere. For the purpose of more easily referring to these circles of numbers, the numbers in the outer circle will all be designated by the reference numeral 10, while thenumbers in the inner circle will be referred to by the reference numeral 11. Figures 1, 2, 5, and 6, illustrate the base 5 as having rotatably mounted thereon, by means of the screw 12 which passes through theaperture 1. inthe base, a cover 13 of disk formation which is retained in spaced relation to the base 5 by means of the spacer ring 14-. F astened to this disk-like cover 13 is a spinning knob or handle; 15 which rotates with the cover upon the screw or post 12. Carried by the operating knob or handle 15 is a stop arm 16 which has at its outer end a depending finger 17 which rides over the teeth 7 formed on the periphery of the base 5 and insures the stopping of the cover 13 in a position, after each time it has been spun, with the finger 17 residing between two of the peripheral teeth '7. V 7
Figures 1 and 2 show the cover 13 as having formed therein two, 'arcuat'e series of radially elongated slots--18 and 19 with the inner slots 18 being, of. greater length than the outer slots 19. Each slot 18 and 19 is provided with an independent cover 20 which is formed of thin, flexible material and is pivoted at one end by a pin 21 to the disk-like cover 13. The inner arcuate series of slots 18 are arranged to register with the circular series of instruction indicia 9 and also the inner circle of numbers 11. The outer arcuate series of slots 19 are arranged to register with the outer ring or circle of numbers 10. In playing the game, as many as eight different persons may participate, it being noted that there are eight slots in each of the arcuate series of slots 18 and 19, and each player is allotted one long slot 18 and one short slot .19. It is preferred that .each person select a long and a short slot 18 and 19 respectively which are in longitudinal alinement with each other, however, it is to be understood that the players may decide amongst themselves if they care to play the game in this manner. It is to be loo understood that this game apparatus may be nianuta aired with a great many more sets 011 long and short slots than the eight dilterent sets illustrated and that these slots may be spaced in respect to each other any desired distance, it being noted, however, that the diiiierent slots should be arranged in respect to each other so that each one will always register with a space After the players have selected their respective short and long slots 18 and 19 and while the covers :20 are all arranged to close the slots, any one of the players may spin the disk-like cover 13. This cover will spin or rotate about the pivot 12 and will come to rest with the linger 17 ot the stop arm 16 located between two adjacent teeth 7. it will be noted by carefully inspecting Fig. 2-3 that the notches formed between adjacent teeth 7 are in longitudinal alineineni: with the spaces 8 so that the stopping of the cover 13 With the linger 1'? in one ct these notches will insure the arrangement of the slots 18 and 19 so that they will each rogis' ter with a. dill'erent space 8. Killer the cov r 1'? has come to rest, each player uncovers his respective slots 18 and it) by pivoting and flexing the covers 20 oil oi the same. The numbers in the outer circle 10 are added to the players score while the numbers in the inner circle 11 are deducted or subtracted from the players score and should a player lind that his longer slot 18, "when it is uncovered, exposes one oi? the instruction indicia 9, that instruction should be carried out by that player or by the player who is ail'ectcd by the instruction.
It is to be understood that the form of this invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and that various changes in the shape, size, and arrangement of parts may be re sorted to without departing from the spirit or the invention or the scope of the subjoined claims.
Having thus described the invention, I clailnz 1. In a game apparatus of the character described, a base plate having concentric circles oi score changing indications thereon, each indication oi one circle being radially aligned with an indication of the other circle, a cover plate rotatably mounted on said base plate and having two concentric arouate series of openings thcrethrough, each series of openings being located above one of the circles oi indications on the base plate, means for 'lt'acilitating spinning of the cover plate relative to the base plate, and a dis placeable cover for each of said openings.
In a game apparatus of the character described, a base plate having concentric circles elf score changing indications thereon, each indication of one circle being radially aligned with an indication of the other circle, a cover plate rotatably mounted on said base plate and having two concentric arcuate series of openings thcrcthrough, each series of openings being located above one of the circles oi indications on the base plate, means for :lacilitating spinning of the cover plate relative to the base plate, and means to positively bring the cover plate to rest with its openings registered with radially aligned indications of the base plate, said last nanied means comprising a linger rotatable with and depending below the cover plate, said base plate having notches in its peripheral edge successively engageable by the linger when the cover plate is caused to spin, each of said notches being radially aligned with one indication 0:1 each of: said circles of indications.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
