- This invention consists in certain improvements in the construction of cores to be used in molding the interior of hollow rectangular or polygonal articles of cement, clay, and other similar materials. Such substances contract to such an extent in setting or drying that. when it becomes necessary to remove the core it will be found tightly bound, rendering it difficult to remove the same without breaking or injuring the articles.

To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, LUcIEN A. TARTIERE, of Elizabethport, in the county 01" Union and State of New Jersey, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Oastin g Articles of Cement and other similar materials, of which the following is a specification This invention consists in certain improvements in the construction of cores to be used in molding the interior of hollow rectangular or polygonal articles of cement, clay, and other similar materials. Such substances contract to such an extent in setting or drying that. when it becomes necessary to remove the core it will be found tightly bound, rendering it difficult to remove the same without breaking or injuring the articles. This invention consists in providing such rectangular molds with a sleeve constructed of two strips of sheet metal, connected together at the ends by two flexible strips of sheet metal, in such manner that they may be contracted or sprung together after the core is removed, to allow the sleeve to be withdrawn from the article, the sleeve being left in the article, to sustain its sides until the material is dried or set.
