UNITED STATES RALPH EARL MYBICK, OF MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA.
DISPLAY CONTAINER.
Application filed October 28, 1926. Serial No. 144,795.
The present invention relates to a display container particularly adapted for use in handling and selling candy or other merchandise.
The important object of the inventlon lies in the provision of a container of this nature wherein the candy may bedisplayed so that the container has the appearance of being filled at all times.
Another very important object of the invention lies in the provision of a display container of this nature which is rotatably mounted and has a plurality of compartments.
Another important object of the invention lies in the provision of a rotary display container of this nature divided into compartments and having dispensing drawers, one for each compartment.
A still further object of this invention resides in the provision of a simple construction that will ei'liciently display the article, one which is handy, strong and durable, inexpensive to manufacture, thoroughly relia- 25 ble, and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
With the above and numerous other objects in view, as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a rear elevation of a device embodying the features of my invention,
Fig. 2 is a horizontal section taken on the line 2.2 of Figure 1, looking downwardly,
Fig. 3 is a horizontal section taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1 looking upwardly,
Fig. 4%. is a fragmentary detailed vertical section.
Referring to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that the letter S denotes generally the stand which is in the form of a box having a rear opening and includes a bottom 5, a front wall 6, a pair of side walls 7, and a top 8. The top 8 is provided with a relatively large circular opening 9. A standard 10 rises from the center of the bottom 5 and is fixed thereto by means of a base 11. This standard 10 is preferably braced to the side walls 7 by rods 12 although this is not of the essence of the invention. A ball bearing race 14 is mounted on top of the standard 10 for receiving ball bearings 15 on which is rotatable a second race 16 fixed to arms the bottom edge of atransparent cylinder 22.
A non-transparent cylinder 23 rises from the disk 18 within th cylinder 22 and concentric therewith. Cross partitions 2d are provided within the cylinder 23. This cylinder 23 is provided at its bottom with openings 25 which are closable'by vertical sliding doors 26. Partitions 27 are radially mounted in extension of partitions 24 within the outer compartment formed by the cylinder 23 and 22. These outer compartments are the display compartments for the candy. A lid 28 is adapted to rest on top of the cylinder 22. Box-like draw-frames 80 are mounted on the disk 18 to depend therefrom, one below each inner compartment and the adjacent outer compartment and slidably receive scoop-like drawers 31 having handles 32. The disk 18 is provided with a plurality of openings 34-. one for each inner compartment leading into the adjacent drawer structure.
To fill the device the lid 28 is removed and both the inner and outer compartments are filled with candy or the like. The merchant may conveniently revolve the upper portion of the device so as to remove the particular drawer desired for selling the proper amount of the candy in accordance with the purchase.
As the level of the candy in the inner compartment lowers it will be seen that the display outer compartment remains filled thus giving the appearance that the container is filled at all times. However, the candy in the display compartment may be readily re moved by lifting the doors 26 and this can preferably be done any time the container is filled so that the candy in the display compartment will be fresh.
It is thought that the construction, utility, and advantages of this structure will now be clearly understood without a more detailed description thereof. The present embodiment of the invention has been di closed in detail merely by way of example since in actual practice it attains the feathe above description. It will be apparent that changes inthe details of construction, size, proport10ns, and 1n the comb nat on and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Havingthus described my 111V11tlOIlWl12Lt .I claim as new is:
I 1. A device of the class described including a box-like stand having its rear open and ts top provided with a circular opening, a standard rising in the box-like stand,
:1 disk in the opening, a bearing between the disk and the top of the standard for rotatably mount ng the disk and a transparent 1 cylinder rising from thecdisk.
7 2t A device of the class described including a bOX-llk stand having its rear open and lts top .provlded with a circular opening, a standard rising in the box-like stand, r
a disk in the opening, a bearing between the the second cylinder into compartments, par
the space between the two cylinders into compartments, one vtor each of the first-men tlOH'ed compartments, said second cylinder being provided with openings'l-eading into Stud first cylinder, and ClOSLIlQS ZfOI said openings. V V
In testimony RALPH EARL MYRICK.
vtiti'ons between the two cylinders dividing whereof I aflix my signature.
