As here embodied my improved lite saving device comprises a bag, of any suitable heavy material, such as canvas or the like,

consisting of a rear element 10, of any suitable shape, and having a notched portion 11,

`The above mentioned construction is such as will allow the .intermediate pulley 29 to press the rope 41 against the bracket 19, any desired amount, by adjusting the screw 39, as to, permit a relatively slow rate of speed, y'when a child or children placed in A g, descends there-v in, from the upper stories of buildings. It being" understood that the rope 41, is at tached, at its upper extremity at or near the window of the building, andis of suitable length ytoreach the ground.
