SUPPORTING MEANS FOR DRY ROOMS.

Application filed February This invention appertains to novel means for supporting a hat drying chamber in rn'edetermined relation to a conventional boiler used in hat blocking and cleaning es tablishments and the primary object of the present invention is the provision of anovel supporting ring upon which the lower edge of the hat drying chamber orroom is adapted to rest, with novel means for holding the ring in proper position about the boiler.

Another object of the invention is the provision of novel means for associating a hat drying chamber or room with the upper end of a boiler, the room being provided with a depending skirt or apron for snugly receiving the said boiler and a novel supporting member encircling the boiler upon which the lower edge of the apron or skirt is adapted to rest. whereby the said drying chamber will be held on the boiler in correct position against displacement.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a device of simple and durable construction for holding a hat drying clianr bar or room in predetermined position upon the upper' end of a boiler, which can be placed upon the market at a small cost and incor .orated with the boiler and hat drying chamiier by an ordinary. layman.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and formation of parts, as will be hereinafter more specifically described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which drawings:

Figure 1 is a vertical section through the hat drying chamber or room and support therefor. showing the room and support in position on a boiler.

Figure 2 is a top plan View of the support for the room.

Figure 3 is a side elevation of a modified form of novel support.

The boilerA is of the conventional type of hot water boiler usually heated by gas to generate steam and commonly used in the pressing and steaming and blocking. of hats.

The hat drying chamber or room B is of substantially the type shown in my prior Patent 1,493,361 issued to me May 6, 1924, and will not be described in detail, but it is to be noted that the same includes the main body 10 having associated with the lower end thereof the depending annular heat. deflecting skirt or apron 11 which is snugly received on the top of the boiler so that heat arising from the boiler will be directed into the body 10. In accordance with this invention the lower end of the skirt or apron 11 is provided with an outstruck right angularly disposed flange 12 having itsedge provided with a rolled head 13, so as to strengthen the said flange and to eliminate sharp cutting edges.

The improved support B for holding the drying room or chamber in place above the upper end of the boiler consists of a supporting ring or band 15 which receives the I said. boiler. As shown the ring or band is of an annular construction and extends entirely above the said boiler. As clearly shown in Figure 1 of the drawings the band or ring 15 has the flange 12 of the skirt or apron 11 of the drying room resting directly thereon whereby the band will form an efficient support therefor. 1

A number of preferred means can be utilized for holding the support or band 15 in proper position around the boiler and a number of such supporting means has been shown in the drawings.

In Figures 1 and 2 a plurality of supporting legs 16 are provided, the upper ends of which are placed in facial abutment with the periphery of the said ring, or band and secured thereto in any desired way, such as by rivets 17. The lower ends of the standards 16 are provided with laterally extending feet 18 which also can be secured against movement, such as by volts 19 to the floor or other support. As shown in the drawings, the standards 16 are formed from strap iron. but if preferred, the same can be made out of piping or the like.

In Figures 3 and 4 I have shown another means *of holding the ring or band '15 in the desired position and in this form I provide a bracket 20, which is secured at a point intermediate its ends, suchas by rivets 21 to the band or ring 15. The upper end of the bracket is provided with inwardly directed arm 22 which is in turn provided with an attaching foot 23, which is adapted to be placed against a wall or other support and-rally preferred means, such asa screw 24 can be utilized for connecting the foot to the said Waller support. The lower end of the bracket 20 is provided with a right angularlydirected attaching foot 25 which isbolted or otherwise secured to the floor,

In Figures 5 and 6 I have shown another form of means for-holding the band or ring l2 in pla ce" which embodies a single sup- ,portingbraeket or leg 30. What claim as new is: 1. An. attachment for steam boilerscomprising a dryingcbamber arranged above and in axial alignment with the boiler and having a portion encircling and enclosing the boiler, and means for supporting the chamber from the floor and independent of the boiler.
