Description
1 12 192 y 7 c. PFERSDORF DEVICE FOR TRYING ON SHOES OR BOOTS Filed Dec. 2, 1925 :Mwenton @hrls Qttovue Patented Jul 12, 1927.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHRISTIAN PFEI BSDOBF, OI ELBERFELD, GERMANY.
RsssuEo DEVICE FOR TRYING ON SHOES R BOOTS.
Application filed December 2,1925, Serial No. 72,849, and in Germany December 5, 1824.
The object of the present invention is a device for trying on shoes. Devices are already 'known for utilizing a shoe that fits. With these known devices however it is impossible to establish the position of the whole foot in the shoe; they limit themselves in essentials to determining the length of the shoe and the width of the ball of the foot and accordingly consist only of a sole which is provided with a lowered e. I
Devices have also become nown by means of which it is ossible to measure up the whole shape of t e foot. These devices however are intended for a shoemaker who works to measure. v
The object of the invention difl'fers from these devices inasmuch as it has shoe-models made of transparent material kept in stock in consecutive 'numbers.
The buyer fits on one of these transparent shoe-models on the foot-rest. By this tryingon in consequence of the transparency of the material it is possible to establish the shape and size of the foot in the corresponding 6 shoe-number. The number of this transparent shoe-model corresponds with the number of the shoe to be sold and the seller can now, without any previous trying-on, take down the shoe from the shelf.
The object of the invention is illustrated on the drawing and shows:
Fig. 1 a section through the transparent shoe-model.
Fig. 2 a top view.
Fig. 3 the shoe-rest provided with a trans parent ground-glass plate and a lamp.
The shoe-model a is made in one piece and, of course, of transparent material.
Any transparent material can naturally be employed but transparent celluloid is especial model a is, it, placed on the plate applied to the S10 e of the foot-rest b. This plate is secured Ey springs so that when the foot is set upon it it is pressed downwards. On its underside it carries apoint 03 which in the known way 'actuates a contact device e and the switching on of this lights up a lamp f. This lamp can either be shut ofi from the battery ysuitable for the purpose. This shoeafter the foot has been fitted into p or by a contact pin. Also it is not absotely necessary. to turn on the current by the help of the plate, but it can be applied by a separate switch.
What I claim is A device for trying on shoes or boots comprising a transparent shoe .model having an integrally formed sole or bottom and provided with a toe cap and a heel end and a number or symbol indicated on the shoe model corresponding to the size of boots or shoes suitable for the foot upon which the shoe model is tried.
In testimony whereof I have signed my 4 name to this specification.
