This invention relates to locking means employableinsa'l es, the term safesincluding vaults and thelike, and relates especially to such locking means inconnection with time mechanism.
It is the object of the invention to provide novel means for connecting the time mechanism with the bolt mechanism for locking. the safe, arranged in such manner thatthe time mechanism. is relieved from stresses of felonious attempts of operation of the bolt-works; further, to provide means whereby the time mechanism is separated from thebolti mechanism and the-obstructing neans for the latter, to remove the time mechanism. from the shocks and jars incident to felonious attempts to manipulate the bolt. mechanism and, further to provide novel arrangements of obstructing means for the bolt mechanism controlled by the time mechanism, and rigid mounting means on the door-structure for the same. i

Derangements of the obstructing, means. of the time. devices and their casing, have taken place by burglayrious-manipulations ofthebolt-worlts-, as by blows upon the handle of the bolt-works, at-

It is the object of therefore, to provide obstructing means for the bolt-works and to so arrange and mount the same that blows and jars thereon by the bolt-works are resisted by strong members securely placed in direct relation to the door to remove resisting connection from the time devicesand the mountingsof the lat 'ter and to so arrange the parts that the sole operative connection between'th'e time devices and the obstructing member is the holding r latching means which supports the obstructing member in obstructing rela tion and to so arrange the parts that blows the present invention,

In case the safe or the door or the boltworlts are subjected to any shocks or jars, such shocks or ars and the stresses incident thereto are resisted by the massive structure oi the obstructingr bar. the massive mountin thereof direct on the safe-door, and a to not directed upon the time-mechanism or the tinie-casin; or the mounting thereof, so as to avoid derangement in the timeclock mechanism and its mounting.
The casing: in which the time-mechanism is located is cushioned with relation to the door by the cushion washers 51. In the present exemplification, the sole operative connection between the time mechanism and the obstructing means for the bolt-works consists of latching means between the controlled part of the time-mechanism and the obstructing means, the construction and arrangrement of the parts being: such that shocks, jolts or jars to which the obstructing mechanism may be subjected are not detrimentally connnnnicated to the latching means or time-mechanism.
IIaving' thus fully described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. In time lock means of the character described the combination ot a satc-door, a limeclocl means comprising a casing mounted on said safe-door. latching means controlled by the latter, bolt-works "tor locking: said sate-door, said sate-door comprising: an inner plate as an integral part of said satedoor and independent of said time-clock casing, and obstructing means tor said boltworks, said obstructing means mounted on said inner plate of said sate-door independent of said casing in manner that said timecloclc casing is relieved from stresses produced on said obstructing means by said boltavorks and said stresses are con'nnunicated directly to said safe-door, and said latching means arranged for operative c011- nection with said obstructing means.

In time lock means of the charzmter described. the combination of a suite-door, bolt works therefor, means at the outside. of .-aid sal e door for operating said bolt-works, a time-cloch means including a casing mounted on said sate-doom latching means eontrolled by the latter. obstructing means tor said bolt-works. said latching means arranged tor operative connection with said ol'istructingr means. and means for mounting said obstructing means independent: of said time-clock casing on the structure ot said sate-door, whereby the structure at said sate-door directly recei res the shocks ot resistances of said ol'istructi11g means to move ments of said bolt-works, and whereby said time-cinch means and said casing thereof are relieved from said shocks.
3. In time 1ock means of the character de scribed the combination of a sate-door comprising laminated steel plates including an inner plate. bolt-works for said sate-door, a time-clock means, means or cushioningrly mounting said time-clock means on said satcdoor, an obstructing part for the boltrworks, means for tirmly mounting said obstructing part directly on said inner plate of the structure of said door in manner to cause the sate-door to directly receive the shocks of resistances by said obstructingpart and to relieve said time-clock means from said shocks, holding means for said obstructing part, and control means for the latter having operative connection with said time-clock means.

5.
