This invention relates to new and useful mprovements in septic tanks and has for its primary ob ect to provide a tank comp-rising a pair of casing half sections in which i is arranged a partition wall resulting in the provision of a plurality of compartment-s within the tank having communication with each other at the-upper end thereofso that the material may flow from one compartment to the other, means being provided within the tank to cause'the excrement tofseek the bottoms of the compartments so as to be come properly disseminated. I A further object is-v to providei a septic tank of this character that may be readily set up in an opening in the ground and wherein the edges of the tank sections may beproperly sealed together so as to prevent the leakage of the fluid therethrough.

Now having particular reference to the drawing there is disclosed a septic tank that consists of apair of semi-elliptical sections 55 of predetermined length and width, the
opposite vertical edges thereof being flanged V as at 6-6 while the ends of the flanges are flared outwardly as at 7-7 in Figure 2. Arranged vertically between the sections 55 is a partition wall 8, the opposite edges of which extend between the flanges 66 of the sections after which the sections and partition wall are'interconnected by reason of a bolt and nut connection 9 passlng through the flanges of the sections 5+5 and alsothe opposite vertical edges of thepartition 8, asi-s shown in Figure 2. l
After the sections and the partition wall have been interconnected, there is arranged over the. flared edges 7+7 of the section flanges 66 vertical spring metal tubes 10%10, the inner sides ofwhich are formed with slots that extend throughout their length in order that these tubes may be sprung intoposition over the flared ends of the flanges and he maintained in proper position thereon by reason of the tubes springing together within said flared ends'of the flanges. Preferably after these tubes'have been arranged in position, concrete or other suitable material is poured therein while in a plastic state andwhen hardened forms a leak proof joint or seal between the edges of the sections 55 and the surfaces of the partition wall 8. Upon the interior of the tank adjacent the openings 12 inthe sections 55 thereof are 7 depending arcuate shaped metallic shields 13, while'at opposite sides of the opening in the partition wall 8 are similar shields. The
upper ends of the shields 13 adjacent the openings in the tank sections are formed with vhooks let-14 for engagement over the upper edge of the respective tank section. The shields 13 on the opposite sides of the opening in the partition wall 8 are inter connected at their upper ends as at 15 so as to permit the same to be hung upon the upper edge of said partition wall. 1
The length of the shields 13 is such that the lower ends thereof extend considerably beneath the openings 12 in the tank sections and partition wall so as to cause the solid matter ventering the compartments of the tank to pass, beneath the surface of the fluid level therein and sink to the bottoms of the compartments at the same time permitting the proper flow of the fluid into and out of said compartments.
