SHOW CASE.

Application filed February 23, 1926 -Serial No. 90,052.

My invention relates to a show case particularly designed to display baked prod ucts. it is an'object of my invention to produce a show case which will display in a suitable manner the baked products which it designed to contain but which is sim ple in construction, attractive in appearance,

and at the same time maintains the products in such a manner that they are readily accessible to the clerk.

It is a further object of my invention to produce a case providing separate compartments each of which is normally closed so as to prevent the access of dust and dirt to the contents of the case.

Further objects of the invention will appear as the description proceeds with reference to the drawings in which:

My show case comprises a frame consisting of vertical angled uprights 1 connected by longitudinally extended members 2 and transverse members 3. The transverse memhers 3 are inclined as clearly shownon Figures l and 3 of the drawings. Said longitudinal members are spaced apart, vertically, a sulficient distance to permit a clear view 7 of the contents of the sections of the case 12, as is clearly shown on the drawings.

These frames are notched as shown at 13, tofit in the angled uprights l. Said frames are unsecured to the frame of the case but are designed to completely cover the receptacle formed as above described. By this arrangement the covers may be raised to dispense the products contained therein or to renew the supply.

Handles l-l are provided on the rear of to remove some of the contents-of the case or for any other reasons, I provide latches that engage the handles of the covers when the latter are tilted shown in Figure 2. These latches are arranged with one arm in the path of the handles'and are swung about their pivots to automatically engage said handles when the covers reach their tilted position. The latches may be released and the covers replaced by manipulating the catch 16 as will be readily understood.

In the operation of my improved show The arrangement is such that when this cover is case the case is at in osition s3aced" from the wall of the store room. Preferably though not necessarily the case is made of a length which is a multiple of the width of the pans customarily used in bakeries, and of a width substantially conforming to the length of said pans, so that the pans containing the baked products may be placed in the receptacles without waste of space, if this practice is deemed desirable. The pans may be inserted in the case by simply tilting the covers until they are automatically held in their elevated position. The pans may then be readily inserted. In the same Way the products of the case may be dispensed. The automatic means for retaining the covers in elevated position permits full use of both hands of the clerkin removing and adding to the contentsof the case. It will be observed that, bythe arrangement shown, thecontents of each receptacle is maintained separately encased from the con tents of every other receptacle and that all the receptacles are so arranged that they properly display theircontents and fully protegt them from dust and dirt.

\Vhile I have above described in detail the preferred form of my invention, it should be understood that my invention is not limited to the precise details but that the scope of llO my invention is to be determined from the following claims,

Claims:

1. A counter show case of the type that is inaccessible from the front thereof and ac cessible from the rear, comprising a plurality of fixed forward y inclined receptacles arranged in spaced relation to each other, a transparent removable and tiltable cover for each receptacle, said covers being arranged to be tilted from the rear of the case and means to automatically engage the several covers when they are sivuni to raised position, whereby ready access to toe several receptacles may be had.

2. A counter show case of the type in which the contents are inaccessible from the front of the case but accessiole from the rear thereof, comprising a plurality of spaced forwardly inclined receptacles, transparent covers for said receptacle each cover being tiltable about an axis located in the front of the case and means to hold said covers in such tilted position, the arrangenient being such that containers may be readily slid beneath said covers and down such inclined receptacles mto position in the case.

3. A show case comprisln plurality of spaced, inclined, receptacles, a removable and tiltable cover for each receptacle, a handle for each cover secured to the edge thereof and spring latches attached to the overlying receptacles to automatically en said handles When the covers are tilted.

4. A sanitary show case of the counter type designed to be inaccessible from the front and accessible from the 11-; comprising uprights, a forwardly inclined ieceptacle, provided with a transparent tilt-able cover designed to swing about an axis at the front of the case, secured to said uprights and constituting the top. of the case; a plurality of forwardlyinclined receptacles secured to said uprights and arranged beneath and spaced from said first named receptacle; said last named receptacles being provided with transparent covers designed to swing about axes at the front of the case; and means to automatically hold said covers including the top cover in elevated position whentlie covers are raised.
