The bands 27 and 28 are bent with 5 adapted to be caught or taken prisoner by a half twist 32 at the point where extending members on the other side. Instead of bethrough cap slots 8 and the outer portions ing tagged as is common in games of this are formed semicircular in shape and looped kind, the present invention contemplates the at the ends as at 33. use of a catching device to engage the arm, To manipulate the device for catching a 10 neck or body of the player caught, whereby player, the normally spring closed arms 27 he may be led as prisoner to the goal or and 28 are opened by pressing lever 20, with other proper place. the fingers, thumb or palm of the hand,
The invention is illustrated in the accomagainst handle 5, the lever ends 21 moving panying drawings, in which Figure 1 shows cross bar 17 forward carrying bar 9 which 15 a pursued player caught with the device straightens links 24 and turns arms 27 and manipulated by a pursuing player; Fig. 2 is 28 outwardly on pivot pin 31 as shown in a plan View of the device; Fig. 3 is an endot and dash lines in Fig. 2 allowing the V larged sectional view on line 33 of Fig. 2; arms 27 and '28 to be pushed about the body Fig. 4 is a sectional view on line 4- 1 of of the pursued player. Upon releasing the 20 Fi 3. pressure on lever 20, compressed spring 14 is shown in the drawings, the device comagainst screw 16 forces the bar 9 rearwardly prises ahandle 5, which may be extended contract ng links 24 and closing the arms 27 to any length desired. The handle 5 has and 28 holding the player. The player may an enlarged head 6 provided with a metal be released by opening the arms 27 and 28 cap 7, slotted at the sides as at 8. A slidable as hereinbefore described. The bar slots bar 9 extending through the handle is se- 11 and 13 limit the opening and closing cured by pins 10 and 12 in bar slots 11 and movements of the arms 27 and 28. 13 respectively. A helical compression I claim: spring let is coiled about bar 9 in handle A catching device comprising a handle 30 bore 17 between pin 12 and a washer 15 and having a slot, at it fr t e d, a b r screw 16 at the rear end of the bar. A cross tending rearwardly from said slot, and a rebar 17 riveted to bar 9 is disposed in an cess opening from said bore through the side opening 18 in head 6 having a transverse of the handle, a pair of crossed hooks pivpin 19 secured therein and extending oted in said slot and projecting from the 35 through opening 18 with a lever 20 pivoted front end of the handle, a spring pressed thereon. The lever 20 is formed of sheet rod mounted in the bore in the handle, links metal with the hand grip portion rounded in said slot between the rod and the rear and the inner folded ends 21 thereof engagends of the hooks, and a lever mounted on ing cross bar 19. the handle and extending into said recess 40 The forward end of bar 9 extends into an and connected to the rod to open the hooks.
