UNITED STATES PATENT. OFFICE- EDQWARD THEMAK, or NEW YORK, my.
LIQUID APPLIGA'I'OR.
Application fi led September 23, 1925. Serial 1%.: 58,179.
This invention relates to liquid appli cators and has for anobject to provide an improved construction wherein different kinds of liquid may be readily confined in a container and dispensed anda'pplied to a given spotby the container.
Another object is to provide an improved plicator with the cap slightly removed from' the body. I v
Figure 2 is a longitudinal vertical sectional view through an applicator disclosing an embodiment ofthe invention. 7
Referring to the accompanying drawing by numerals, 1 indicates a hollow body having a closed lower end 2, a roughened thumb portion 3 and a threaded'section 4. Preferably, the body 1 is made from sheet metal and, therefore, preferably the threads 4 are embossed or pressed from the body, though if desired, cut threads could be used. The cap 5 is preferably made from sheet metal andis provided with pressed threads 6, a pressed out roughened thumb portion 7 and a round end 8. When the cap 5 is'screwed down tight on the body 1, the cushioning and sealing member 9 in cap 5 having a spherical seat in its lower end presses tightly against the spherical end 10 of the liquid container 11 so as to seal the opening 12. The parts are preferably proportioned so that when the packing or sealing member 9 is pressing tightly against end 10, the lower end 13 of cap 5 is preferably engaging the roughened part 3, Preferably, a cushioning and packing structure 14 is arranged in-th'e lower end of body 1 so as to relieve the,
strain on the container 11 which is preferably formed of glass, though it may be" formed of other material. The liquid 15 may be iodine or otherv liquid.
In case the liquid .11 is iodine-or other liquid to be appliedto sores or cuts, cap 5 may be readilyremoved by unscrewing and then the spherical end 10 rubbed over-the flesh at or near the cut whereupon some of the iodine or other liquid will be fed through the aperture 12 and onto the flesh. As:
there is only one aperture and that being minute in the container 11, the liquid will not flow through the aperture ordinarily but when'the same is rubbed over the flesh, the liquid will automatically move through the aperture and be properly distributed by the spherical end 10 by capillary action. In this way the liquid is dispensed and applied by theoriginal container. Preferably, the container 11 has a sliding fit in the body 1 but may be easily. removed at anytime so as to place anew container in the body whenever desired. I
'VVhat I claim is: i
A liquid applicator comprising a container having a single'minute opening atone end, said end being spherical, a casing covering and protecting said container,
said casing being formed with a body and a L cap having a spherical end, said body falling short of said container end, said body nearest the container end having a threaded section and a raised roughened bead atone end of the threaded section, said cap having a threaded section and a pad having a con-
