This invention relates to new and useful improvements in pitman rods, and `particularly to the boxings by means of which they are connected to the wrist pins ot the driving shafts.
One ob'ect of the invention is to provide a device ot this character wherein the 'boxing is capable ot being adjusted to compensate :tor wear. l l
Another object is Lto provide a device of this character wherein the pitman rod is capable of being adjusted to take up wear, and
loose play, at the boxing end of the rod, and
at the point ot connection with the sickle bar. i
Another object is to provide a device o't this character which is simple in construction, capable ot being applied to the pitman rods now in use, and which can be manut'ae tured at a comparatively low cost.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent 'from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing. Y

Figure 1 is an elevation of a pitman and boxing, made in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 is a vertical longitudinal central sectional view through the device.
Referring particularlyto the accompanying drawing, .represents a portion ot the pitman rod, which has the strap 11 secured on one end. The bight portion of this strap is provided with an opening 12, through which is disposed one end of an oppositely threaded rod 13. Engaged on this rod 13, at opposite sides of the bight portion, are the adjusting and retaining nuts 14 and 15. The intermediate portion of this rod 13 is a wrench engaging portion 1G, by means of which the rod may be turned.
Embracing the wrist pin 17, arethe sections 18 and 19,of the bearing, said sections being properly confined fwithin a yol eshaped frame 20. A block 21, is slidably supported in the frame 20 and has a flat face, on one side which bears against the section 18, while its opposite face is concave for engagement by the adjacent end of the rod 13. In the opposite sides of the frame 20 are formed openings 22, which receive the lugs 23, ot the up of the pair ot angle members .24.A The other arms ot' said angle members are disposed in overlapping relation transversely arms oi' a yoke 24. which is made with respect to the sides of the vframe 20, and said overlapping arms are provided with alining openings through which is disposed the adjacent end of the rod 13. Adjusting and clamping nuts 26 and 27, are engaged onthe rod, at opposite sides ofthe overlapping arms out the yoke 24.
On .the upper side of the trame 2O is an o1l cup 28, which feeds lubricant to the wrist pin and the bearing sections 18 and 19.
`When the wrist pin and bearing blocks 18 and 19 wear to such an extent that a loose motion is present, the nuts 111 and 2G are turned'awaytrom the bight portion of the strap 11, and the arms of the angle members 24, respectively, wherebyv topermit the rod 13 being moved against the block 21. The pressure of the rod 13 against the block 21 forces the section 18 against the wrist pin, and upon turning the nut 23 up against the angle members the frame 2O will be drawn down, whereby to pull the bearing section 19 against the other sideo't the wrist pin. The nut 27 is then turned up tightly against the angle members 24', whereby to hold the bearing sections in proper embracing engagement with the wrist pin.. rlhe nuts 1&1
and 15 are then manipulated to iirmly clamp the strap bight therebetween, and draw the pitman rod up to the desired position.
What is claimed is: j
1. The combination with a wrist pin and pitman rod, of a two part bearing, a yoke# shaped frame supporting the bearing in wrist pin embracing position, a removable yoke in the open end of the frame, an adjusting rod connected to the removable yolre and said pit-man rod and in movable relation to one ot' said bearing parts, and means for moving the adjusting rod and trame relative to each other whereby to tighten said bearing and take up on Athe pitman rod.
2. The combination with a wrist pin Vand pitman rod, of a two part bearing, a yoke'- shap'ed frame supporting the bearing in wrist pin embracing position, `a strap on the pitman rod having an opening. a block slidably supported in the frame, an apertured yoke supported in the arms of the frame, and an adjusting rod engaged in the openings of the strap and V volte and bearing against said slidable block.
3. A wrist-pin bearing take-up including a frame one end of which is open, bearing blocks supported in the trame ior embracn ing engagement with a wrist pin, a plano Gil concave block slidable in the iframe and having its iiat face engaged with onero'frsaid bearing blocks, a yoke having its arms operativeiy connected with the open endo'f the frame, a threaded rod disposed through the bight of the yoke and bearing against the `concave face of the slidable block, and nuts engaged on the rod at opposite sides of the said f bight. The combination with a Wrist pin' andv pitman rod, of a two part bearing,'a frame supporting the bearing and having openings in the sides thereof7 angle `members each having a lug 'on one ofits arms7 engaged in `one ot said openings and having its other arm arranged in transverse relation to a side of the fra1ne,a strap carried by the pitman on the other end of the rodfor binding eiigagement with -the said angle members7 and Ilubricating means carried by the frame.
