The flange or web 12 of the base section 10 nearest to the rod 14 and hinged end of the link 19 is partially removed at 22 to form a socket in which the link 19 can be inserted when the clamping member 16 is seated within the pocket or recess 13 of the base section 10, as shown.
23 is a clamping ring encircling the rod 14 and link 19 and is adapted to slide back and forth on said rod 14 and link 19 and when in the position shown in full lines in Figures 1 and 2, firmly and immovably holds the clamping member 16 within the recess 13 of the base section 10, and said clamping ring 23 is held in position by means of the spring action of the yielding link 19, as will be readily understood.
The manner of using the mop holder is as follows: The mop holder is placed in the position shown in Figure 1 and the clamping ring 23 is slid back beyond the hinged end or pivotal connection of the link 19, which permits the clamping member 16 to be elevated and entirely removed from the recess 13 of the base section 10. The mop NI is then adjusted so that one of its ends or edges is seated in the recess 13 of the base section 10, and then the clamping member 16 is permitted to drop in said recess 13 and assume the position shown in Figure 1 and the clamping ring 23 is then slid up and forced against the spring action of the link 19 until it is firmly held thereby when the mop M will be securely wedged and clamped within the recesses 13 and 181 of the section 10 and dished clamping member 16, and the edges of the flange or web 18 biting into mop M within said pocket or recess 13 of the base section 1() and owing to the outer side of the bottom 17 of the clamping member 16 being removed from the top edges of the flanges or raised webs 12 of the base section (see Figure 2), said mop M will at all times prevent any metal parts of the mop holder from coming in contact with the floor or other body and scratch or injure the same while the mop holder is being moved back and forth over said floor or other body. This is a most important and advantageous feature of the present invention and will carry ont safely such advantageous operations whether the mop handle is depressed or elevated, as will be clearly seen by reference to Figure 2.
Furthermore, when it is desired to remove the mop M from the holder, all that is necessary is to place the mop holder in the position indicated in Figure 2, slide back the clamping ring 23 to the position shown in dotted lines, and said clamping member 16 will drop down into the position shown in dotted lines and quickly release the mop M without further manipulation on the part of the operator.
From the foregoing disclosure of the construction and arrangement of the improve- Inent and mode of applying the same, it will be seen that all the objects and advantages recited in the statement of invention have been fully and efliciently carried out, and while VI have shown and described my preferred form of the mop holder, many changes will readily suggest themselves without in any way departing from the salient features herein disclosed and embodied in the scope of the claims.

A mop holder comprising a base section provided about its periphery with a raised web forming a shallow recess or pocket, a rod in substantially the same plane as the plane of the base section and attached thereto to one of the sides of the base section, a dished clamping member of less depth than the depth of the recess or pocket formed on the base section and adapted to tit with a slight clearance within the recess or pocket and below the top edges of the web of said base section and means for holding said dished clamping member within said recess or pocket of the base section with the recesses of said clamping member and base section facing each other.

A mop holder comprising a base section provided about its periphery with a raised web forming a shallow recess o1' pocket, a rod in substantially the saine plane as the plane of the base section and attached thereto perpendicular to one of the sides of the base section, a dished clamping member pivotally connected to said rod and of less depth than the depth of the recess or pocket formed on the base section and adapted to fit with a slight clearance within the recess or pocket and below the top edges of the web of said base section and means encircling said rod and pivotal connection between Y said clamping member and rod for holding said dished clamping member within said recess or pocket of the base section with the recesses of said clamping member and base section facing each other.

A mop holder comprising an elongated rectangular narrow base section provided about its periphery with a raised web normal to the plane of said base section and forinina` 'a shallow rectangular recess or pocket, a rod in substantially the saine plane as the plane of the base section and attached thereto normal to the elongated sides of the narrow base section, an elongated rectangular dished clamping member of less depth than the depth of the recess or pocket formed on the base section and adapted to fit with a slight clearance within the recess or pocket and below the top edges of the web of said base section and means for holding said dished clamping member within said recess or pocket of the base section with the recesses of said clamping member and base section facing each other.

A mop holder comprising an elongated rectangular narrow base section provided about its periphery With a raised web normal to the plane of said base section and forming a shallow rectangular recess or pocket, a rod in substantially the same plane as the plane of the base section and attached thereto perpendicular to the long sides ot' the narrow base section, an elongated rectangular dished clamping member pivotally connected to said rod and of less depth than the depth of the recess or pocket formed on the base section and adapted to fit with a slight clearance within the recess or pocket and below the top edges of the web of said base section and a ring loosely encircling said rod and pivotal connection between said clamping member and rod for holdin` said dished clamping member within sai recess or pocket of the base section with the recesses of said clamping member and base section facing each other.
