The ob 'ect of my invention is to provide a fuse that is easily renewed and that is not affected by the varying dimensions of fiber. Ml
more readily understood by reference to the accompanying drawings, which show a pre ferred embodiment of my invention. in describing the device shown in the drawings w hereto attached and described in the spec-itication, I do not limit my invention to the precise form, shape or construction of the fuse shown, or to the several parts thereof, as various alterations can be made without changing the scope of my invention.

In the drawings, 3 is a casing, 4 is a ringshaped member partly within the casing and which preferably.i's arranged so that the cap or'ferrule 7 may be held thereon. This member, which is preferably made of metal or other material of unchanging dimensions. may be attached to the casing by rivets or other means, but I prefer to use threads as shown at 5. By reason of'its being attached to the inside of the casing, the shrinking ofthe fiber more firmly grips the member. This is of great advantage over such type of fuses as have the fittings on the exterior of the casing, as the shrinking of the fiber then permits the fittings to, become loose and permits the escape of flame andgas; here the cap is directly attached to the fiber, great difiiculty is experienced in removing the cap when the fiber swells. In my preferred form, I make the aperture 13 with straight sides ahd the plug'wi'th tapered sides on the greater portion of its periphery and While this taper may be of any length, I prefer to have it extend along the entire length of the plug. The side at which the strip is positioned is preferably at right angles'to the top of the plug.

1. In a fuse, a casing, a cap, a cap-holding member attached to the casing, having an aperture thru which a fuse link may be passed, a plug adapted to be wedgewise positioned in and to substantially close said aperture and having an outer face over which a link may bebent, and co-acting means on cap and cap-holding member adapted to press a fuse link toward the plug and the plug toward the aperture.

In a fuse. a casing, a cap, a cap-holding member attached to the casing, having an aperture thru which a fuse link may be passed, a plug adapted to be .wedgewise positioned in and to close said aperture and coacting means on cap and cap.holding member pressing the plug in the aperture and for holding a fuse link between the cap and the plug in substantially unchanging-electrical contact.
3. In a fuse, a casing, a cap,-a cap holding member fitted within the casing and having a non-circular aperture, a plug adapted to be wedgewise positioned in said aperture and co-acting means on the cap and member for pressing the plug in the aperture and adapted to hold a fuse link between the cap andthe plug.
