A shoe last in accordance with this invention provides for the saving in labor by sewingthe sole while the shoe is on the last, as the shoe'rema'ins on the original last until completed, avoiding necessity ofsecond lasting and furthern'iore this saves material.

The last further eliminates the inner sole in the forepart of the shoe, thereby giving the shoe the flexibility of a handtturnin area 15 and the stamina, rigidity and high arch support in area 16. Further. it provides a smoother inside sole on which the foot rests, eliminates the tacks employed in a McKay process and further eliminates heavy rough seams inside of hand turned shoes, therefore it is thought the many advantages of a shoe last in accordance with this invention, can be readily understood, and although the preferred embodiment of a shoe last, in accordance with this'invention, is as illustrated and described, yet it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction can be had which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed. What I claim is; I l. A shoe last comprising a last body formed with a chamber provided with a bottom wall, said chamber extending at a point between thetransverse median and rear end of the last body to the front end of the last, thebottom wall ofsaidchamber forming a portion of the sole of the last, said bottom wall having its sides throughout and its forward end slotted, and a flexible bottommemremoved from the rear end of said last body and terminating at its forward endof the latter, said last body having the sole part thereof formed with a slotcoextensive with the sides and forward end of the bottom of said chamber and positioned in proximity to the edge of the sole part of the last body, the ends of said slot opposing and spaced fron'i each other at the rear wall of said chamber, and a flexible bottom member secured to the outer face of the sole of vthe last body at the forward portion thereof and flush with the inner wall of the slot 3.
