ADVERTISING DEVICE.
Application filed July 24, 1925. Serial No. 45,925.
spaced intervals along. the length thereof in order to support the same in the air and at an appropriate or appreciable distance above the metropolis and which may support thereon an advertising novelty which may be illuminated from the current carried by the electric cable. 7
Another object of my invention is the provision of a plurality of electrically operated fans which may be included upon the electric cable and when set in motion by the current thus transmitted by the electric cable will force the cable upwardly in the act of raising the cable and the advertising novelty and which includes a tail or rudder upon its lower end for pre-' venting the said cable from being blown downwardly and forcing the fans against the wind for maintaining the cable in an upright position.
With the above and other objects in view the invention further includes the following novel features and details to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawings Figure l is a view of a city, town or metropolis showing my invention in use.
Figure 2 is a fragmentary elevation of the electric cable illustrating the supporting means for the fans.
Figure 3 is a vertical sectional view taken through the fan support.
Figure 4 is an elevation of my invention showing the relative arrangement thereof when flown vertically Figure 5 is a sectional View taken through the connection or support of the fan upon the frame and illustrating the manner in which the current may be transmitted from the electric cable to the fan. 7 7
Referring to the drawings in detail, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference character 10 indicates an electric cable which may be constructed of any strength, size or material to withstand the weight and conditions of the weather along with the size and weight of the advertising novelty to be supported there- 'said cable 10 may be tions as clearly illustrated in-Figures l andv of construction,
on and which has secured at spaced intervals throughout the length thereof, a plurality of gas inflated balloons 1 1 in order that the supported in the posi 4 of the drawings.
PATENT oFFIfcE.
In order to provide means for quickly raising the said devicelinto the positions shown, I provide a plurality of fans 12 having their shafts 13 mounted within pipes 14 while bifurcated clamps 15 extend outwardly from the opposite sides thereof, the purpose of which will be presently apparent. In supporting these fans 12 upon the electric cable or wire 10 I provide pipe casings 16 which encircle portions of the wire or cable 10 and which have secured to the opposite ends thereof semi-circular frames 17 having spaced stops 18. These pipes or casings 16 are adapted to be received within the bifurcated clamps 15 included upon the outer sides of the pipes 14 and include openings within their outer sides through which portions 10 of the cable 10 may extend to be connected or secured to the motor for the fans 12. Asillustrated in Figure 2 of the drawings, owing to the relative association and mounting of the fans upon the cables or wires 10, the lower ends ofa pipe 14 will selectively engage the spaced stops 18 when the wind sways .or blows the cable in order that the fan blades 12 will not come into contact with the cable 10 and tend to destroy the insulation or cut the wires and thus cause. a short circuit and render the device useless at night. rotated through the medium of the motor 19 which is mounted upon the shafts and arranged within the frames 17. These fans further include tails'or rudders 20 upon the lower ends of their pipes 14- in order that the wind when so being deflected thereupon will guide and hold the said pipes 14 in a vertically disposed position whereby the said fans will tend to make the cables 10 climb The shafts 13 arehigher into the air in the supporting of the advertising novelty. The motor 19 is con nected with the main electric cable 10 by means of the branch wire 10 one end'of which extends into the pipe casing 16 through the bifurcated clamps 15 as shown in Figure 5 while the other end is attached to the motor 19 as shown in Figure 3. Thus current is supplied directly from the cable 10 to the motor 19.
Ali-advertising novelty as indicated at 21 may be thus supported upon, theirintermediate and upper portion of theicable 10 and owing to the arrangement of the balloons 11 and fans 12 that the Weight thereof may be supported in the 'positions'shown -and"it'is' :FGingerale .Which of ,courseumay be illuminated in thesame manner inthe transmission ot thesource of current fromthe cable 10 as. in the instance otthefanslQ.
When supporting a device of this, character it is of course understood that either 01' bothends may have a winding end space in order that the said advertising device may be readily and easily taken down for repairsor iin replacing a different novelty.
The invention is susceptible ofvarious .Having described my invention What is claimed is .An advertisingrdevice of the character de scribed comprising an electrically charged .cableuihavingi a plurality .ol balloons rangediat spaced intervalsthroughout the length :thereot, can advertisingnovelty suspended flOHiillB cable, a plurality of guide frames arranged at spaced intervals .upon thecableyand electrically operated fans piv- :otally imounted. upon and guided by: the .irames and having theirntorce o'l propulsion transmittedpfroni the electrically charged cable.
In testimony whereof I aliiximy signature.
