- This invention relates to improvements in loading machines, the general object being the provision of a platform having a grate arranged centrally thereof and supported an appreciable distance above a ground floor upon a wheel frame and having means provided upon its opposite end in associating inclined platforms thereof whei'eby dredges, scoops and like implements may be drawn up to the main platform and have their contents dumped upon the grate within the platform in order that vehicles run beneath the machine may be readily loaded without the lnecessity of the vehicle running direct to the point at which the material is first gathered.

LOADING MACHINE.
Application filed October 17, 1925.
This invention relates to improvements in loading machines, the general object being the provision of a platform having a grate arranged centrally thereof and supported an appreciable distance above a ground floor upon a wheel frame and having means provided upon its opposite end in associating inclined platforms thereof whei'eby dredges, scoops and like implements may be drawn up to the main platform and have their contents dumped upon the grate within the platform in order that vehicles run beneath the machine may be readily loaded without the lnecessity of the vehicle running direct to the point at which the material is first gathered.
Another object of my invention resides in the provision of a detachable ridge bar arranged between the respective front and rear axles of the machines which is adapted for detachable engagement therewith and may be readily and easily removed in order that vehicles may run directly beneath the platform and between the wheels of the machine and be readily loaded with the material gravitating through the grate in the platform.
Vith the above and other objects in view, the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction` to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claim.

Referring to the drawings in detail, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference character 1i) indicates an elongated frame preferably foi-ined of channel bars and having a floor 11 arranged upon the upper side thereof and defining a rectangular opening 12 centrally Serial No. 63,120.

The forward end of the frame l() provides spaced parallel apertured ears 28 to receive bars 29 in order that the forward hooked end portions 30 of channel bars 31 having Floors 32 arranged upon the upper side therel of may be associated therewith and adjacent the correspondingl meeting edges of the door 1l and arranged at inclinations with respect thereto, us clearly illustrated in Figures 1 and 3, respectively, said inclinations to be iliade of sufficient length in proportion lo height of machine, so as not to exceed an angle of 2G degrees. The rectangular opening 12 defined centrally within the floor 1l and supported by the rectangular frame l?. provides a plurality of plates 33 standing` on edge in spaced parallel relation in forming a grate, the purpose of which will be present-ly apparent.
VIt will thus be noted from the foregoing lli) description and accompanying dravvings'that the machine as completed provides a device capable of loading trucks and other vehicles run beneath the frame v10 therefor and be loaded with the material so dumped upon the grate arranged Within the floor .Il wher-eby the necessity of successively handling the material prior to a deposit Within'the vehicle will be obviated and consequently a material saving in labor. Obviously no connecting means being provided between the respective axles 18 and 23 during the process of loading vehicles beneath the machine, but when it becomes incumbent upon the users ot the above entitled invention to move the machine about, it is then necessary to provide a substantially V-shaped bar 36 supporting an apertured plat-e 37 upon the tor- Ward meeting endportions capable of receiving a stud arranged upon the upper side of a plate 39 secured centrally of the`length of the front axle 23 through the instrumentality of U-bolts 40, While the respective and opposite end portion of the ridge bar 36 being secured to the upper side of the rear axle 18 through the instrumentality of Ll-bolts 41. The drawbar, as associated, tending to prevent the frame 10 from collapsing owing to any relative movement of the respective axles.
The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction, and the right is her-ein reserved to make such changes as properly fall Within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention, what is claimed is A loading apparatus comprising a frame, a supporting floor carried thereby having a rectangular opening including a grate therein, bars of different lengths depending from said frame, an axle having Wheels mounted thereon carried by the longer bars, a bolster carried by the shorter bars, a sub-bolster pivotally mounted upon the aforementioned bolster, an axle and Wheels therefor carried by the sub-bolster, and a draw bar carried by the last mentioned axle.
