lor pastv dead-center position with respect to 16, so that the connecting bolt or pin 17 of .thearm 7 may be applied to any onel of said holes andthus alter the operative length of the arms when thelatter'are ina certain position, and consequentlyfthe depth to which the teeth may project maybe altered, as will be hereinafter seen. f
The arms v7 and 9-are soarranged relaltive to eachother that when the teeth are out of the ground, and the lever 6 and arms 4 are disposed ata forwardangle, the arm, 9 will also be disposed at a forwardjangle,
the extension 13:ata vrearward angle, and
the arm 9Y at an upward and rearwardl angle.y The' spring 15 is then belowA the arm 9 and is in tension. The springV there- `fore constantly acts to `pull the lever 6 fur-A nther' forward but .cannot do so since -it also tendsto pullthelarm 7 downward and rear-V vvardly.y Consequently ,the spring pressure 'gis equalized andthe lever and arm `structures are.` maintained in kthe positions to which-they havebeen moved by arearwa'rd pull on :the extension 13 by means of the When it isv desiredto lower the teeth the 4 rope 14 is pulled from'ahead.L This causes llever 6` rearwardly "about" lits axis.
the arm. .9 to beswung about the pin as an axis,.since the rod 7 is rigid. ,The'upper i yportion .ofthea'rm 9L therefore movesI forward. and 'downward and the lowerportion iswmoved rearwardly, turning on its connection with. the bracket 10-andk forcingrhe is causes a rearward;1'otation ofthe shaft@ and consequently a rearward rotation of the teeth 3 Vtoctake place. .The ,pullbn the-.rope
,'14 is maintainedquntil theV arms l7l and V'9 move past along'itudinally alinedv position,
-thevilocationvof'thejpin 17 relative to the 1opposite y'pivoted-,ends of the 'arms 7 and 9 with the frame a-ndlever respectively. 'The Spring-15 then being still in tension acts to increasev this past dead-center position, las
Will 'be evident, preventing any tendency of they teeth tox'leavey the ground. l
yFurther downward movement iof the arms isf limited `,by thecforwarfd en'd of the arm Zhengaging the yforward .shaft 2 or the framel.,`
The .rearward angular setting of thelever 6 and-associated parts and consequently-the depth to which the teeth will enter the y ground is controlled by' altering the point of'conne'ction of the bolt. 17 with respectto `the length of 'theA arm ,9, since, as will be evident, .when the arms are in the p last :named position, theoperativelengthpof said arms between their opposed pivots. will k-b'e shortened'xlor lengthened by c liang-ingthe bolt 17 from yonefto; another 1 of .the 'l longitudinally spaced holes16.
Vhile I have specifically .described and la device 'aslsubstantially fulfills the objects of the invention as set forth herein.
kWhile this specification sets forth in de-i tail the presentl and preferred construction of the device`,"still 'in practice suchl deviations from, such detail may beresorted to` as do not, formfj a departure fromv vthe `spirit of the invention, 'as vdefined by ythe appended claims. l
Having thus described my invention whatl and desire to'se I .claim as new and useful cure by Letters Patentis:
\1. AV hand-lift structure for a harrow,l
said harrow including ay frame, ground engaging members turnably mounted thereon, a vlongitudinally movable lever pivoted on the frame` and meansoperatively connecting the lever( and membersl to causey the latter to be turned with 'they movement of the lever;

and springmeans applied to the arms to maintain the same in either'of-thek above named positions. ,l l
2. Av hand-lift structure forv a harrow,
said harrowvr including a frame, ground engaging' members turnably mounted thereon, a longitudinally movable lever pivoted 4on the frame and means operatively connecting the ylever and vmembersfto cause thelatter to beturned with the movementof the lever;
comprising an arm pivotally connected to the lever and extendingahead ofthe same, another arm'piv-oted at onezend onto said first named arm and at its other end` onto o y theframe at the forward end of the same,
an operating memberattached to the outer end of the yfirst named arm, said arms vwhen the teeth yare out of ythe ground'projecting V.upwardly at an angle to each other and` when the teeth are in the ground moving down past/dead center with respect `to .the pivotalconnections at the ends of the arms,
and a compression spring connected yto the vlirst named'arm below thefconnection of the Y rsecond named arm therewith yandy to the second lnamed arm -intermediate its ends.
3. A hand-lift vstructure for a harrow,
sai-d harrow inoludinga frame, ground engaging members turnably mounted thereon, a longitudinally movable lever pivoted on the frame and means operatively connecting the lever and members to cause the latter lto be turned with the movement of the lever 5 comprising an arm pivotally connected to the lever and extending ahead of the same,
another arm pivoted at one end onto said `first named arm adjacent `projecting ahead of said first namedv arm and at its other end onto 10 i' the frame atthe forward end of the Same, and a further arm rigidly connected to the upward angle therewith.
