It will be understood thatthe operation of the mechanism produces the stopping without shock, damage is avoided notwithstanding that the loom is operated at a mits of the employment of a short rod for transmitting the movement of the crank shaft to the beater.
I claim:
1. In looms having fixed reeds, a crank shaft, and a frog adapted to be engaged by a stop rod dagger or finger to actuate the stopping mechanism, the combination of stopping mechanism comprising a brake shoe, means such as a fly wheel mounted upon the crank shaft of the loom to cooperate with the said brake shoe, a draw rod connecting said frog and said brake shoe, the said draw rod consisting of two parts movable longitudinally with respect to one another, means of connectionbetween the parts of the said draw rod providing lost movement between the said parts, and means comprising a spring by which the relative whereby the possibility of high speed which per 1 causes the gradual application of pressure by the brake shoe until the lost movement between the parts of the draw rod is taken up, substantially as hereinbefore described.
2. In looms having fixed reeds, shaft, and a frog adapted to be engaged by a stop rod dagger or finger to actuate the stopping mechanism, the combination of stopping mechanism comprising a brake shoe, means such as a flywheel mounted upon the crank shaft of the loom to co-operate with thesaidbrake shoe, a draw rod connecting said frog and said brake shoe, said draw rod consisting of two parts movable longitudinally means of connection between the parts of the said draw rod providing lost movement between the said parts, a spring, and means comprising a lever connected to the said spring and the parts of the said draw rod causes the extension of the spring and the gradual application of pressure by the said brake shoe until the lost parts of thesa-id draw rod is taken up, substantially as hereinbefore described.
