The invention relatesto pile cuttingunits employeil inloomswliicli weave pile fabrics, to cut the `loops oit the fabric, each unit including a body portion, a blade holder, and a blade detacliably secured tothe holder, the unit being operated by well? known means, to cause the blade to cut a* rowof loops in the usual manner.
The object of the invention is toprov'ide an improved construction of the. holder, whereby it is adapted to lirmly' secure the blade and permit the quick and convenient removal and replacement of the latter.

Fixed to and projecting outward: from lone end oit the body portion, is a blade-holder', adapted to` detachably conine a blade 13. Said` holder is made from sheet metal and comprises a gripping-jaw 14, preferably including a head 15, a jaw 16, opposed to the jaw 14, and a neck 17 connecting the jaws. The jaws 14 and 15 are adapted to bear yieldingly on opposite sides of the blade, and the neck 17 constitutes a blade-back abutment, for the back of the blade 13, the back being the unsha'rpened longitudinal edge opposite the sharpened edge 13 a.
The holder is provided at the inner ends of the jaws with an inner abutment 18, for the inner end of the blade. llhen the pile wire is of maximum width, the blade-back abutment may include an abutment member Q5, formed like the abutments 19 and 20, on the head portion of the jaw 15, and arranged to bear on the outer end portion of the blade-back, as shown by Figure 9, the inner end portion of the blade back bearing on the neck 17. In this embodiment, the blade-back abutment includes two members, one of which is the member 25, and the other the neck 17.
The jaw 16 may be relatively short, as
shown by Figure 9, so that its outer end is spaced rearward from the abutments 19 and 20, and oll'ers less resistance to the lateral displacement of the outer end portion of the blade than is the case when the jaw 16 is extended, as shown by Figures l and 3.
I claim:
1. A pile wire including a body portion, a blade, and a blade holder fixed to the body portion, said holder comprising opposed jaws yieldingly grasping the sides of' the blade, and permitting lateral displacement of the outer end portion thereof, and a plurality of abutments collectively preventing endwise and edgewise movements of the blade interposed between the jaws, said abutments including an outer abutment for the outer end of the blade, and a holdingdown abutment for the outer end portion of the blade, both carried by one ot the jaws, the arrangement being such that lateral displacement of the outer end portion of the blade disengages it from the outer and holding-down abutments, and permits the removal of the blade from the holder.
2. A pile wire as specified by claim 1, the said outer and holding-down abutments being intefrral with the jaw by which they are carrie 3. A pile wire as specied by claim 1, the jaws being connected by an integral neck on which the blade-back bears.,
4l. A pile wire as specified by claim 1, the jaw carrying the outer and holding-down abutments being provided with an opening, formed and arranged to receive a prying tool, whereby the outer end portion of the blade may be laterally displaced.
5. A pile wire as specified by claim 1, the jaws being connected by an integral neclr on which the rear end of the blade-back bears, the jaw carrying the outer and holding-down abutments being provided also with an abutment bearing on the forward end of the blade-back.
6. A pile wire including a body portion, a blade, and a blade holder fixed to the body portion, said holder comprising opposed jaws yieldingly grasping the sides of the blade, a blade-back abutment, an inner abutment for the inner end of the blade, an outer abutment for the outer end of the blade, and a holding-down abutment bearing on an outer end portion of the blade, said abutments collectively preventing endwise and edgewise movements of the blade interposed between the jaws, said outer and holdingdown abutments being on one of the jaws, and the outer end of the blade being yieldingly held in engagement therewith by the other jaw, so that the outer end portion o the blade may be laterally displaced, to disengage it from the outer and holding-down abutments, and permit the removal of the blade 'from the holder.
7. A pile wire as specified by claim (l, the said inner abutment being formed to hold down the inner end ot the blade.
8. A pile wire including a body portion, a blade, and a blade-holder xed to the body portion, said holder comprising opposed jaws yieldingly grasping the sides of the blade, one of the jaws having a head laterally supporting one side of the outer end portion of the blade,ithe other side o said end portion being laterally unsupported, a blade-back abutment, an inner abutment for the inner end of the blade, an outer abutment for the outer end of the blade, and a holding-down abutment bearing on an outer cud portion ot the blade, said abutments collectively preventing endwise and ede'ewise movements of the blade interposed etween the jaws, the outer and holding-down abutments being on the head portion and spaced outward from the outer end of tbe other jaw.
9. A pile wire including a body portion, a blade, and a blade holder fixed to the body portion and comprising opposed jaws yielc ingly grasping the sides of the blade and permitting lateral displacement of the outer end portion thereof', and a confining abutment carried by one of the jaws and normally bearing on the margin of the blade at the outer end portion thereof, the arrangement being such `that lateral displacement of the outer end portion of the blade disengages its margin from the abutment.
