IMPROVEMENT IN COMPOUNDS FOR REMOVING INCRUSTATIONS IN STEAMB0'LERS- Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 162,49l, dated April 27, 1875; application filed March 10, 1875.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that We, GEORGE A. MooRE and. WILLIAM MoCLoUD, of Columbus, of the county of Franklin, State of Ohio, have invented a certain Compound for Removing the Inorustations from the Inside of Steam- Boilers, of which the following is a specification:
This invention is used for the purpose of removing the incrustations from the inside of steam-boilers; and it consists in a composition formed by mixing soda-ash, alum, chestnut-oak bark, and charcoal, together.
To prepare the compound take the above ingredients in the following proportions: One hundred (100) pounds of soda-ash thirtythree (33) pounds of alum; twenty-seven (27) pounds of chestnut-oak bark; eight (8) pounds of charcoal. Pulverizethem separately, and
then mix together or mix them together first, These ingredients mixed in the above quantities will make one hundred and sixty-eight (168) pounds of the compound.
When you Wish to use the compound in the removal of incrustations from the inside of steam-boilers, take one pound of the compound to every horse-power of the engine. If the boiler is empty, put this in before filling, and then fill up the boiler; if the boiler is full it can be put in by the safety-valve. This will remove all the incrustations in from four (4) to six (6) weeks, and will not foam the Water.
We claim as our invention- The compound for the removal and prevention of steam boiler incrustations, consisting of soda-ash, alum, chestnut-oak bark, and charcoal, in about the proportions specified.
