Application filed May 20, 1925, Serial No. 31,526, and in Germany January 17, 19%..
Vvhen hot solutions evaporate in vacuo in a continuous operation forthe purpose of cooling-condensing or separating salts, the
condensates are usual y withdrawn by means of a jet pump. If a water jet pump is used as the jet pump; then the quantity of Water to be used in operation must be large in order to carry away and volatilize the vapors which are produced. 1
The subject of the present invention resides in effecting the removal ofthe condensate with at the most so much water as is necessary for the condensation, as the condensates before passing into the jet pump, are condensed by a condenser of usual construction by the water of the jet pump. In this connection it is immaterial for the carrying out of the invention Whether the pump is driven by the cooling water which is flowing in or flowing out.
The invention is particularly applicable for the separation of epsom salts (G'auber salt) and potassium salts. For the purpose of obtaining a high degree of vacuumv 2 and therefore alow cooling temperature the condenser or the jet pump can also be operated with" cooled Water or cooled brine.
In the drawing is shown by way of ex ample a device for carrying out the inven- I claim as new and desire to secure byiLettors Patentis: a 1. :In combination, a'condenser, and a jet pump connected to said-"condenser for removing condensate therefrom, said jet pump throuqh said condenser. v
2. In combination, a condenser which vapors,arc.condensed;-an inlet for the ad- 1 mission ofcooling water at one end of said condenser, an outlet pipe at the other end 5 being operated by the cooling water pa zed of the condenser, and a jet pump connected to said outlet pipe for removing condensate from said condenser and operatedbv' the cooling Water of said condenser flowing through said outlet pipe. I 6
In witness whereof I hereunto subscribe my name this 29th day of April, A. D. 11925.
