Referring in detail to the drawing, the numeral indicates a hollow casing. 1t vis to be noted that these casings are to be duplicated, one for each side of the vehicle at the rear. One of the casings has a rela tively large annular' housing 11 secured to the rear side. Said annular housing is surinounted by a smaller. h'ousing12.
Both housings 11 and 12 have an open face which is covered with glass 13. On the glass in the smaller housing, the word Go is inscribed, and on the glass covering the larger housing, the word Stop is inscribed.A These'housings are provided with filament lamps not shown `on the drawing which are actuated in the'usual -inanner to illuminate alternately the housings. The
same casing which carries the Vhousings 11 and 12 has a post 14 secured thereto which extends upwardly and has va reflector 15 mounted at its upper end.. Vilithin the reiector, a filament lamp 16 is fixed. One end of the casing 10 is closed by a wall 17, the opposite end being open and cut away to provide two spaced-apart parallelV extending side walls 18 and 19 between which a pair of semi-circular tongues 20 form part of a movable housing 21. A short spindle 22 is fixed in the tongues and has a bevelled gear 23 secured thereon. Thisspindle is rotatably journalled in openings provided in the parallel walls 18 and 19 and permits the housing 21 to be rotated from the hor-izontal to the vertical when theI bevelledl gear 23 Vis rotated. A shaft 24 extends thru the entire length of the housingfrom one e'ndto the other. .One end' vof this shaft. has. a bev'elled pinion 'gear' 25 fixedthereon'A which meshes with gear 2?).4 This shaft is.

The signalling device is used 'for indicating a change of direction of thevehicle onv which said device is mounted. vThen desiring to turn left, the shaft 29 of the left casing is rotated in the proper direction.
Rotation of this shaft is communicated to the lgears 128 and 27, which latter being fixed to theshaft- 24, rotates it, causing the pinion 25 fixed on. the opposite end of the shaft and meshing with the gear 23 to rotate the latter and swing the housing 21 from the position.
