F. EICHHORST ROCKING HORSE Filed Sept. '7, 1926 ATTORNEY Patented Mar. 15, 1927.
FRANZ EICHEORST, F TREPTOW-ON-THE-REGA, GERMANY, ASSIGNOR ONE-HALF TO FRITZ SCHMEKEL, OF MOUNT CLEMENS, MICHIGAN.
ROCKING-HORSE.
Application filed September 7, 1926. Serial No. 133,834.
This invention relates to amusement de-.
. vices and more particularly to such devices adapted for use by children. One of the objects of the invention is to provide a rocking horse capable of moving forward by the action of a rider.
Another object isin the provision of means whereby the horse may be steered in any desired direction.
A further aim is to provide a device which,
7 Figure 2 is a plan View of the support.
In the drawing, the numeral 10 generally designates a V shaped frame to which is pivoted at its apex ;11,-by a vertical pintle 12,
; a cross-bar 13.
. Extendingdownwardly from thee enter of fthe1:bar.13,fis"a .pair ofvertical elongated 3 'ured'a short-Zaxle rod on which is rotatablyi-mounted a'wheel 16.
f'g-Passing through thearms of the frame 10 fat their-outer parallel ends 1 7.is a shaft 18 '--having a crank .19, formed centrally'thereon,
the shaft carrying'a pair of Wheels at the ends.
Secured to the "frameIO near the rear thereof at 21, is a pair of angular inreaching supports 21 having-openings in theiralignment with the-openings in the 'sup- ,.ports21.-
' Passing through these openingstis a'rod 23 on which is pivoted a fiat plate24, the rod carrying at; its outer. ends a 'pair' of pulleys 25.
Secured'to the plate is the body 260f a toy horse large enough 'to accommodatea child, the horse having fixed thereon a sadtothis specification.
35, the lower end of which engages. the" crank 19.
Passing through the head of the horse, at its mouth, is a rod 36 carrying at its ends a pair of pulleys 37 over which is trained a. cord or reins 38 accessible to a rider, and fixed in openings 39 in the ends of the bar 13, as shown in Figure 1. i
In operation, a rider seated in the saddle 27 draws the reins 38 backwards, thus causing the body of the horse to tilt forwardly, which action, because of the link 35, revolves the cranked shaft 18, moving the toy forwardly.
By slackening the reins and leanin slightly backward the rotation of the sha t is obviously continued; repeated operation thus giving continued motion.
Tosteer the toy to the right or corresponding side ofthe reins 38. ispulled taut, which, through thecord connection .in'
left, the I the openings 39in the bar- 13 will accmn v plishr'this' purpose.
