AUTOIOBILE DBIVERS HEEL PROTECTOR.
Application filed December. 22, 1925. Serial 110. 77,005.
This invention relates generally to the art of boots, shoes and the like, and has more particular reference to a protector for association with the heel portions of 'ladies 5 shoes for use onl automobile in or er that the heel portions of the shoes will not become marred or dirtied during the operation of a vehicle.
The primary object of the invention is to l substantially improve and simplify articles of this type that have beenpreviously patented with which I am generally familiar.
Other objects will become apparent as'the nature of the invention is better understood,
l thesame comprising the novel'construction hereinafter more fully described and shown in the accompanying drawings and claim.
In .the drawing wherein like reference characters indicate corresponding Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved'shoe attachment in use, and
Fig; 2 is a detail vertical section thereof.
vNow having particular reference to the drawing, my novel shoe attachment includes a strip .of flexible material 5 of leather preferably, that is cut and formed as to agree with the contour of the side and rear portions of the heel A of a womans shoe B as well as the side and rear portions of the up er C at the heel end. thereof.
n order that the attachment may be prevented from slipping u wardly from the heel and upper of the s cc, when applied, the same is provided within its lower end "with a properly sha ed lift of wood or leather 6 to the si e and rear edges of which is secured the material forming the attachment through the-medium of tacks or the like 7. A-strip of leather or other material similar to the, material forming the attachment 5 and designated 8 is disposed around the open side of the attachment at 'its lower end, the same being also secured at its lower edge to the lift 6 as well as to the material forming the attachment pref-- in the operation of an parts erably b stitching 9, this strip of leather 8 efiective y preventing rearward displacenlilent of the attachment with respect to the s cc.
Secured at one end to the inner side of the material forming the attachment" is a strap 10 that is adapted to on age over the instep portion of the wearers cot, and is provided at its opposite end with one or more button holes 1 1 for receiving a button 12 upon the other slde'of the material forming the strip in order that the attachment will be positively secured to theishoe of the wearer.
. Preterably, the attachment carries a reinforcing strip 13 at its upper rear side for providlng an additional protection for the eel portion of the shoe upper C when the foot of the wearer is resting upon the accelerator of the automobile.
It will thus be. seen that I have'pro vided' a highly novel, simple, and usefulattachment for automobile drivers shoe heels that is a substantial improvement over protectors of a similar nature, and one that will, I
believe, meet with ready favor when placed upon the market.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: 4
As a new article of-manufacture, a ladies shoe and heel protector of the class described compr sing a pocket constructed of flexible vmaterial and shaped to conform tothe rear portion of the shoe and rear and side portions of a high heel, a reinforcing patch on the upper part of the pocket and on the rear side thereof, a. lift constituting the bottom ofthe pocket, a strip of flexible material extending across the open side of the bottom ofthe pocket and serving to confine the heel in said pocket and in engagement with said lift, and a retaining strap for the protector adapted to extend across the instep of the wearer.
i In testimon whereof I aflix my. signature.
' ELI BETH MEARS SMOCK.
