- Application filed July 8,
This invention relates to new and'useful improvements in concrete reenforcing trusses or fremes- The primary object of my invention is to provide a concrete reenforcing truss or frame consisting of av plurality of independent parts or units which may be easily and readily assembled and 'locked into a rigid Acompa-ct assemblage. Y
Withthe foregoing and otherv objects inv View that will appear as thenature of my invention is better understood, the same ,con-
sists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts illustrated inthe accompanying drawings and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims. 1
' In the accompanyingdrawings, which are for illustrative purposes only and are therefore not drawn to scale Fig. 1 is a top plan.
Fig. 2 is a side elevation. l v
Fig. 3 is a plan of the sections of the main frame with the connecting sleeves therefor in horizontal section.y
Fig. 4 is an end view.
Fig. 5 is a fragmental perspective of one end of the truss, and
Fig. 6 is a transverse section with the central spacing element shown in elevation. Referring to the drawings for a more particular description of myv invention and in which drawings like parts are designated by like reference characters throughout the several views, my concrete re-enforcing truss comprises, first, a substantially rectangular frame A consisting of the longitudinal side members 1, preferably in the form of cylindrical steel rods, formed at opposite ends with the inwardly and right -angularly bent portions 2 connected together by the cylindrical sleeves 3 which co-act-with the aforesaid end portions in forming the end members of said rectangular frame.
VA series of three or more parallel laterally spaced re-enforcing members 4 and 5, preferably in the form of cylindrical steel rods, extend lengthwise of the frameH A, as shown.
The' central rod 4 is perfectly straight throughout its entire length exceptv at its ends, which are bent downwardly at right angles, as at 6, to form the lugs 7 adapted to hook over the sleeves 3. The outer rods 5 comprise the central straight portions 7 and the raised outer portions 8 which are gradually inclined downwardly and outwardly and terminate at their opposite ends 1n the downwardly and outwardly bent lugs 9 'which engageyor hook under the sleeves 6U 3 aforesaid. `With the parts in this vposition, the crossl rods l0 are inserted betweenV the Aside.members of the frame A and the central re-enforcing-member 4 and the raised end portions of the; outer re-enforcing mein- Y bers 5. This firmly secures or loolis the several component parts togetherl in one coni-- pact rigidassembly.y i
A .Centrul transverse Snecma element Ais employed to hold the side member 1 of the 70 frame A and the rods 4 and 5 in proper spaced relation. This element is in the form of a single continuous wire bent centrally upon itself with its ends 11 and 12 bent around one side member of the frame A and corrugated or bent, as at 13 and 14, to rey ceive the other side member of the frame and the rods 4 and 5, respectively.
My device may be used for re-enforcing vconcrete bridges, floors, or cement or concrete structures of any character where the same may be used to advantage.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the drawings, it is thought that the constructiom operation and advan- 8,5y
tages of my invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1.. A reenforcing truss including a frame having side and end portions, a plurality of rods extending longitudinally of the frame between the side portions thereof, the ends of certain of the rods being bent to engage over one face of the end portions of the kframe and the ends of the other rod being bent to engage over the opposite face of the end portions, and transversely extending rods engageable with the side portions of the frame and with opposite faces Ofalternate longitudinally'extending rods.
2. A reenforcing truss including a rectangular frame formed of sections, means for detachably connecting the ends of the sections, and rods extending longitudinally of the frame, intermediate the sides thereof, and engageable with the ends.
3. A reenforcing truss including a rectan- 1,10
gular frame formed of sections detachably connectedv at their ends by telescoping sleeves, and rods extending longitudinally ot the :l'raxne and engagealile with the ends thereof.
4. A reen'toreing truss including a frame formed ot longitudinally extending portions having their ends lient inwardly and sleeves into which the inwardly extending end portions are received for connecting the seetions, and rods extending longitudinally oli the traine and engageable `with the end portions thereof.
5. A reenforeing trnss including a traine formed of longitudinally extending portions having their ends bent inwardly and sleeves into which the inwardly extending end portions are received tor eonneeting the sections, and a plurality ot rode extending longitndinelly oiE the traine with the ends of alternate rods bent to engage on opposite sides of the connecting sleeve.
6. A reenloreing truss including a frame formed of longitudinally extending portions haring their ends lient inwardly and sleeves into which the inwardly extending.,r end por tions are received tor connecting the sections, a plurality ot rods extending longitudinally olf the traine with the ends of alternate rods lient to engage on opposite sides of the connecting sleeveq and a transversely extending rod engageahle with the frame and the longitudinally extending rods.
7. A reen'lioreing truss including a frame, having side and end portions, a rod extending longitudinally ot the traine, centrally thereoi :ind engagealile with the end portions thereof, and rods extending longitndnelly of the traine on opposite sides of the first n'ientioned rod with their ends engageable with the ends of the traine, said last mentioned rods having raised portions adj arent the end portions of the frame.
In testin'iony whereof he aitixes his signature. i SAMUEL G. GRIFFITHS.
