IMPROVEMENT IN ICE-PITCHERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 161,769, dated April 6, 1875; application filed December 3i, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LoUIs EVANS, of Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved Ice-Pitcher; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accom iianying drawing, forming a part of this Specification, in which the drawing is a sectional elevation.
The invention relates to means by which icepitchers may be made both to cool and filter water before it is used, while the parts may be readily separated and cleaned. These means will first be fully described, in connection with all that is necessary to a full understanding thereof, and then pointed out in the claim.
A represents an ice-pitcher, having in the bottom thereof the vertical ring-flange B, with the bottom apertures b. O is the ice-holder, which has the perforations 0, through which the Water may percolate; and D, a sponge or absorbent holder, having perforations d. The
latter fits upon a flange, c of the former, and may be readily applied and detached. 0 is a rim-flange, Which supports the holder upon the upper edge of pitcher A.
The water is poured upon the ice, passes through the ice-holder; then through the absorbent or filter; then through holes in flange B, and is discharged from the mouth of the pitcher in the ordinary manner.
The separate parts may all be removed and cleaned in a few moments.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is The ice-pitcher consisting of the outer case, having the bottom ring-flange B, the detachable holder O, having perforations c and flange c and the detachable and perforated filterholder D, all combined and arranged substantially as and for the purpose described.
LOUIS EVANS.
