IMPROVEMENT IN CHlMNEV-COWLS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 161,?04, dated April 6, 1875; application filed January 18, 1875.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ANDREW J. ROBINSON, of Troy, in the county of Rensselaer and State of New York, have invented a new and 1111- proved Exhaust Apparatus for Ventilation, &c., of which the following is a specification The invention will first be fully described, and then pointed out in the claim.
Figure 1 is a sectional elevation of my improved ventilator, taken longitudinally of the horizontal tube; and Fig. 2 is a transverse section taken on the line 00 m of Fig. 1.

A is the revolving section of the exhaustpipe B, through which ventilation is to be effected. O is the horizontal funnel-mouthed vacuum-producing tube, which is attached to the top of A, and provided with a vane, D, for keeping the mouth to the wind. E is the partition in pipe A for causing the stream of air passing through to traverse the upper part, to afford greater space for the air coming out of the exhaust-pipe. In this example the pipe A has a flange, F, which bears on a plate,
G, and is secured by a flange, H, to make a tight joint and keep tube 0 from blowing away; but in practice it will be supported on and secured by a vertical pivot, J, which will itself be secured in the cross-arms of the stationary tube B. In any case the stationary tube B will extend up into the revolving one sufficiently to prevent the rain from beating in under the revolving tube.
I wish it to be understood that I do not limit myself to the particular devices and arrangements herein described, but intend to avail myself of any and all proper equivalents thereof, and consider them to be included in this specification.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The oblique and angled plate E, arranged in the ventilator A B G D, as and for the purpose described.
