The conical top19 is'removably held-in 3 7 place and has anopening- 19 at its apex which is surmounted by a ventilator or hood 21. A'bayonet slot connection is provided between the top 19 and the coop body 7 by means of rigid depending hooks 22 carried by the top, certain of which, engage downturned projections 23 on the outer sides ofthe coop. One of the hooks22passes through astrap 24 also carried bythe side 7 of the coop. A slight twist of the top serves toengage'the hooks 22 with the projections 23. The hook 22 which engages the strap 24 prevents the top 19 from being rotatedrelatively of the coop 9 except to the limited extent'necessary to lock the top in place.
Inorder that water may beconveniently supplied tothe chicks within the coop I have provided a water pan 25 which is insertable through a hole in the side of the coop 7, The water pan 25 is further retained in a stabilized relationship by means of guides 26 within the coop and between which the pan is positioned.
To prevent water from dripping from the conical top 19 in front of the doorway 14 provide on either, side of the vane 20 trough like deflectors 27 which carry the water off to either side. These deflectors further. serve to brace the vane 20 and rigidify the top 19 as will be evident.
The operation of the device will be self evident from the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings. The natural tendency of chicks when t a rain storm comes up is to seek shelter to leeward of the coop. Inordinary stationary coops the door of the coop is just as likely to be to windward as to leeward. However, with my coop the chicks upon huddlingto leeward of. the same will find the doorway 1e accessible and may enter the coop., Thus, many chicks will be saved which would otherwise be killed by. drowning. The coop is rodentproof, can be easily cleaned and the removable water pan insertable from without makes it possible to keep the chicks of engagingithe bearing and constituting the sole point of support'for the casing, a stud projecting from said casting and entering said bearingv for, rotatably mounting said casing upon the base, a depending skirt carried by said casing and surrounding said base whereby to prevent fouling of said bearing, said casing havlng a side opening therem, andwind controlled means for malntaining said opening to leeward.

3. In a rotatably mounted chicken coop having a doorway, in-one side, a roof provided with a wind vane above said doorway, brace members at each side of said vane, and said brace members constituting water troughs-for catching-rainwater and deflecting it away from said doorway.
