PAINT MIXER.

or cause an upward movement of paint pigments adjacent the bottom of the can, thereby insuring a quick and rapid mixing of the paint. The upwardly extending flanges carriedby the dished. member cause the device to 'partially cup the vliquid in its upward movement thereby setting up upward and outwardcurrents in the can, consequently in connection with the dished member forms a mixing device which has a mixing action on its downward and upward movement.
A further object is to provide the under side ofthe dished member with a transverse notched vrib or flange which extends below 'thev plane of the lower side of the dished member and which flange, during the mixing operation, may-loe`-A forced into the partially solidified paint pigments in the bottom `of the can for'breaking up and dislodging the same so upon an upward movement of the device, said paint will be sucked upwardly therewith. y Y
'A further object is to make'the dished member rectangularly shaped, and to provide the dished member with a plurality of downward and outwardly inclined triangularly shaped surfaces, which surfaceswill deflect liquid downwardly and outwardly in opposite directions thereby insuring a more perfect mixture.
A further object is to form the dished member from a single piece of sheet metal bent upon itself to form the cutting flange, and bent outwardly from the upper edges ofthe flanges of the cutting flange and interengaging means at opposite sides of the flanges for holding 'the triangularly shaped inclined planes together.
A further object is to provide a handle 'member, the lower end of which handle 1926. Serial No. 108,558.
member terminates kin spaced downwardly extendinoF arms, which arms extend downwardly through the dished member at opposite sides of thejdislodging flange and terminates in hooked portions extending through the dislodging flange in opposite directions, thereby bracing the flange and preventing transverse spreading of the parts forming the flange. .f
`With the above and other objects in ViewA the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings, described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention may be Vmade within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
' In the drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of the mixing device.
lligure 2 isan enlarged front elevation of the lower portion of the mixing device.
Figure 3 is a top plan view of theV dished agitator.
Figure l is a lbottom perspective view of the dished agitator.
Fig. 5 is a detail perspective view ofk the central portion of the dished agitator, shoW- ing the same partially spread to better show the structure.
Referring to the drawing, ithe numeral 1` designates the dished agitator, which member has its chamber 2downwardlyV disposed and is preferably formed from triangularly` shaped members 3, which incline downwardly and outwardly and have corners terminating adjacent the center of the mixing 'del vice. 4The triangularly shaped ,members 3 Y are preferably formed integral with the flanges 4,-whichwhenfbent together form a diagonally extending paint dislodging and cutting flange 5., The adjacent edges of the triangularly shaped portions Bare provided with interengaged flanges 6' which prevent spreading of the triangularly shaped members 3 in relation to eachother and at a right angle to the cutting and dislodging flange 5. The lower ends of the Vtriangularly shaped members 3 terminate in -upwardly,
extending flanges 7, the ends of which areV in spaced relation thereby forming discharge passages 8 at the corners of the device, throughzwhich liquid may pour or pass as the device is moved upwardly in a' body of paint.
