Description

\ J. B. MORROW POCKET CONSTRUCTION Jan. 2551927.
Original Filed April 19. 1924 INVENTOR JMEs B. flannom ATTORNEY Patented Jan. 25, 1927.
PATENT OFFICE.
JAMES B. MORROW, OF OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA.
POCKET CONSTRUCTION.
Application filed April 19, 1924, Serial No. 707,626.
My invention is an improved pocket construction, particularly applicable to vest pockets.
The object of my invention is to provide a gripping means on the pocket, which will not disfigure, or injure the clothes.
A further object is to provide a pocket gripping means which may be readily applied to the standard pocket, and which is not visible when applied.
In the annexed drawing in which my invention is illustrated:
Figure 1 is a front view of a vest with parts broken away to show my improved 5 pocket.
Figure 2 is a front view of my pocket.
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on the line 33 of Fig. 2.
Figure 4 is a view similar to Fig. 3, with a pencil in position in the pocket.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, the usual pocket 1 is mounted in the clothes 2 in the usual manner. A stiff card plate or fibre board 3 is positioned within 2 the pocket 1. This card is approximately the same shape as the pocket, the top being Renewed June 1. 1926.
positioned slightly below the top of the pocket.
An elastic band 4 encircles the outside of the pocket 1, and is suitably secured thereto. This band presses against the card or board 3 within the pocket, thus when a pencil or similar article is inserted into the pocket, it will be held against the card by reason of the pressure of the elastic band, and thus prevented from falling out.
Having described my invention, I claim:
In combination with an article of wearing apparel, an article carrying portion formed therein, said portion comprising a pocket member, a stiif plate arranged within said pocket, said plate being of substantially the same configuration as said pocket and having its top positioned slightly below the top of said pocket, and an elastic member encircling said pocket but concealed from the exterior of the article of wearing apparel adapted to press said pocket against said plate.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
JAMES B. MORROW.
