To all whom it may concern: I
Be it known that I, NEWTON G. HUNTING, of Lincoln, in the county of Logan and in the State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Breech-Loading Shell; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof,

My invention relates to the class of cartridges used in breech-loadingfire arms and the nature of my invention consists in the construction of the cartridge-shell with a movable head, and contracted in that portion which is to contain the ball or'shot, so as to insert the wad and charge from the rear end of the shell as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my inventionappertains to make and 7 use the same, I will now proceed to describe flange, a, as shown. B represents the heady formed with a shoulder, b, and inserted in the rear end of the shell A. On the inner side of September, 187 4.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The'combinatiom'with acartridge-shell open'at both ends, of the flanged head B, rubber disk 0-, and plate D, united by the primingtube d, substantially as set forth.
2.- The combination of the shellfA, enlarged at its rear, and having flange a, with the removable head composed of the flanged plate B, rubber disk 0, plate D, and the primingtube d, all constructed substantially as set forth. v I
