BRAKE-BEAM SAFETY GUIDE FOR RAILWAY CARS on COACHES.

This invention relates to a brake beam safety guide for railway cars or coaches.
. One object of my invention is to provide a simple, practical and economical device of this cha :acter which may be easily and readily applied and removed without first removing or interfering in any way with the brake beams.
A further object of my invention is to provide a safety guide of the character specified which may be easily and quickly removed for repairs or replacement in the event of an accident or other emergency, without the loss of time and labor incident to first cutting off the nuts from the fastening bolts, used in connection with'presentstandard equipment.
With the foregoing and other objects in view that will readily appear as the nature of my invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts illustrated in the accompanying drawings and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

Referring to the drawings for a more particular description of my invention and in which drawings like parts are designated by like reference characters throughout the several views, A designates the truck of a railway car or coach. B the brake shoes, C the brake beams and D the sand-bar. These beam safety parts are of the usual form or c onstruction used in present standard equipment and hence. no further explanation nectlon is thought necessary.

1. In a device of the character specified, a brake beam safety guide, and means for detachably securing the safety guide to the sand-bar, said means comprising a vertical hanger carried by the guide and fitting over the corresponding side flange of the sandbar and a clamping block carried by the guide and engaging one side Wall or face of said flange.
2. In a device of the character specified, a brake beam safety guide and means for detachably securing the safety guide to the sand-bar, said means comprising a vertical hanger having a removable slot and head connection with the guide and fitting over the corresponding-flange of the sand-bar and a exnovable clamping block carried by the guide and fitting against the nner side Wall of said flange.
3. In a deviceof the character specified, a brake beam safety guide and means for de tachabiy securing the safety guide to the sand-bar, said means comprising a vertical substantially inverted L-shaped hanger havinga removable slot and head connection with the guide and fitting over the corresponding side flange of the sandbar, a clamping block bearing against the inner sine Wail of said flange and a headed pin and cotter for detachably securing the clamping block to the guide.
