This invention relates to strap connecters for the harness frames of looms and an object of the invention is to provide a connecter readily adjustable lengthwise of the frame to register with the cam treadles or other harness actuating mechanism.
In looms for weaving very heavy fabric the harness frames are usually provided with spaced rods on which are mounted the heddles for the warp threads, the ends of the heddles being provided with eyes or slots through which the heddle bars extend. It is desirable that these heddle bars be as close to the adjacent parts of the frame as possible, but the connectors at present in use for heavy looms have a bolt passing through the frame bar and a nut thereon to hold the same in place. hen moving the strap connector for repairs or adjustment the nut is unscrewed toward the heddle rod, this condition requiring that the latter be spaced from the harness bar a greater distance than is desirable. Also, in looms of this type the harnesses are usually actuated by levers operated by under cams, the latter being adjustable lengthwise of the loom, and in order to align the straps with the cams in their various positions, it has heretofore been necessary to drill a series of holes through the frames.
In my present invention, I provide a connecter which surrounds the harness frame member without requiring holes therethrough and free when loosened to slide thereon to assume variously adjusted positions.
With this and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, my invention resides in the combination and 49 arrangement of parts hereinafter set forth and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, wherein I have shown one form of my invention,

Referring more particularly to the drawings, it will be seen that I have provided a harness frame having horizontal bars 11 Serial No. 729,640.
connected by end bars 12 and having spaced heddle rods 13 between which extend the heddles 14. The barsll are preferably of wood and rectangular in section as shown in Fig. 4, and the harness frame may be of any approved construction.
The harness frames on which my inventron is used are ralsed and lowered by a harness motion which actuates the frames by is provided with a pair of open slots 27 which receive the hooks 26, the inner end of the slots serving to prevent relative lateral motion of the members.
Extending between the feet 22 is a strap holder 28, the lower end of which is slotted as at 29 to receive the strap 30. The upper end of the connector 28 is broadened and flattened to form a head 31 which engages one of the horizontal faces 32 of the bar 11. The head 32 isformed toextend as at 33 beyond the feet 22 and has surfaces 34 on the under side thereof to correspond with surfaces 35 on the feet 22. As shown in Fig. 2 the head 32 extends beyond the bolts 24 so that angular motion of the connecter is prevented, even though but one of the bolts is in place.
In applying the connecter to the frame bars the trunnions and hooks are interconnected and the members 20 and 21 closed around the bar 11, the strap holder being located between the feet 22 and so positioned that appropriately placed openings 37 therein will register with the openings 23 to receive the bolts. The latter are then positioned and tightened, the effect of which is to draw the members 20 and 21 tightly against the member 11, provision for this condition being made by having the shank of the strap holder thin enough to be out of contact with the feet 22 so that the latter III ' of' the connecter.

I findin'the manufacture of the parts that it is desired to have the surfaces 34L and 35 inclined so they may have a wedging action when drawn together to force the head against the bar 11 when the bolts are fastened.
From the foregoing, it will be seen that l have provided a strap connecter of substantial construction which passes around the harness frame and has provision for longitudinal adjustmentwith respect to the harness frame. This adjustment is attained by loosening. the bolts 2st without disturbing the hinged connection defined by the trunnions 25 and hooks 26. Also, the strap holder is provided with a head which is forced tightly against the frame member by inclined surfaces to prevent lateral movement Lateral movement is further prevented by sharp prongs 36 which e1;- tend from the members 20 and 21 and project into the verticalsides of the wooden bar 11', the prongs preferably beingspaced as far as possible from the pivotal connection between the connecter members so that said connecter may be moved by loosening the bolts 24 without disconnecting the trunnions 25 from hooks-26; It will also be noted that the point at which the connector is released is outside the frame, thuspermitt-ing adjust ments or replacements of the connector without interfering with the heddle rod.
Having described one form of my invention it will-be apparent that those skilled in the art may make changes and modifications therein without departing from the spirit of the invention and I do not wish to be limited to the details shown herein, but what I do claim is:
1. A harness connecter for a loom harness frame comprising a pair of members having portions thereof interconnected to form a pivotal attachment, and means to hold the members together and clamp the same against the harness frame, said means being on the opposite side of the harnessmember from the interconnected portions.
2. In a harness connecter for a loom harnessframe, a pair of connecter members havingpivotal connectionwith each other on one side of a frame part,.and means on the other side of the frame part to draw said members together to clamp the same against said frame part.
3. In a loom harness frame having a longitudinal member, a strap holder in engagement with one face of the longitudinal member, connecter members encircling said member and having holding connection with each other, and means lying outside the member and extending through said members and said strap holder to clamp said members to the longitudinal bar and position said strap member.
4. In a harness connecter for loom harness frames having a longitudinal bar, a pair of connecter members encircling said longitudinal bar, means defining a pivotal connec tion between said members on one side of the longitudinal member, a strap holder located Jetween the members on the opposite side of the longitudinal bar, and means passing through said members and the strap holder to secure the same to the longitudinal bar.
5. In a harness connecter for loom har- 1 Q ness frames having, a longitudinal bar, a
pair of separate connecter members having interlocking attachment with each other on one side of the bar, a strap holder located between the members on the opposite side of the bar and having a broadened head to engage a portion of the bar, and means extending transversely of the plane of the harness frame to hold said members and strap holder to the bar,.said head extending on both sides of said means to prevent angular motion of strap holder.
6. In a harness connecter for loom harness frames having a longitudinal bar, a plurality of members encircling said bar, a strap holder having connection with said encircling means, means to draw said members and said strap holder together, and coacting inclined faces formed on said members and said strap holder to force the latter against the bar.
7. In a harness connecter for loom harness frames having a longitudinal bar, a pair of connecter members encircling said bar and having interlocking connection with each other and having free spaced ends, a strap holder located between the said free ends of the connecters, coacting inclined faces formed onthe connecter members and strap holder, and means to draw said members and strap holder together. said inclined faces acting to force the strap holder against the longitudinal bar.
